Mexico
One more promise soaked in rye whiskey
One more word that bites the dust on some bar room floor
Im the man who travels round doing...
Hey, we dont talk about that
Ill get the favor done for you
No one will ever know
Then Ill run to mexico
Cold as stone my eyes fall on another
Just another name thats runnin through my mind
At your request Ill do whatever you require
You give me the light, I supply the fire
Then Ill burn for mexico
Pretty senorita, she lies to me
Smiles sweetly in the morning when I wake up cold sweating
cause some day Ill be in the sights
One more call when someone finds a target
Only guarded whispers never mentions names
Money on the line will be just fine...
Youll never be involved
And even if a clue shows youll never know

Hey Soos
In a black and white
1960's television episode of
the western 'Rawhide'
was hidden
a small scene
in which a
young Mexican cowboy
from Austin, Texas
named Jesus
and a saddleboy
from Chihuahua, Mexico
named Juan
who was rescued
from the Camancheros Indians
when he was seven years old
and both Juan and Jesus
are standing together

To Do Or Not To Do
To do or not to do
I have been having
Some strange thoughts
The past couple of days
Thanks to an incident
With a credit card
And my checking account
I am almost tempted
To go for broke
And say the hell with it all
Bankruptcy could not be all that bad
Could it
I was thinking I could move to Mexico
For a few years
And pay a couple hundred toward rent
And a Mexican shrink
And have plenty left over
For senoritas and beer…LOL
Wouldn’t that be the life
I wonder what that might be like

In terms of the revolution, I believe that the revolution will be a revolution of dispossessed people in this country: that's the Mexican American, the Puerto Rican American, the American Indian, and black people.

On the Way.
(- what follows is a true story. more a story than a poem. yet, one I have so wanted for so long to tell... -)
On the way
Southbound far into Texas.
It's a long stretch of asphalt,
When the night is late, and so dark
Out on highway 277, moving
From Sonora to Del Rio... and points further south.
Not another soul about,
Just me, my old truck, and the stars.
It's quiet
- and lonely -
Headed down old Mexico way...
Pass a car sitting on the side
- broke down I'm sure -
A coyote with fear and hunger in its eyes
Runs across the road, right in front of me.
Then, a mile or so up, I see him, walking,
Gas can in hand.
I stop, open the door and holler:

Battle Of New Orleans
In 1814 we took a little trip,
Along with colonel jackson down the mighty mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans,
And we fought the bloody british in the town of new orleans.
We fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.
Oh we looked down the river and we seen the british come.
There must have been a hundred of em beatin on a drum.
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring.
We stood behind our cotton bales and didnt say a thing.
Old hickory said we could take em by surprise,
If we didn¹t fire our muskets till we looked em in the eyes.
We held our fire till we seen their faces well,
Then we opened up our squirrel guns and gave em a little...well....we...
....fired our guns and the british kept a comin,
There wasnt bout as many as there was awhile ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin
On down the mississippi to the gulf of mexico.

James K. Polk
in 1844, the democrats were split
The three nominees for the presidential candidate
Were martin van buren, a former president and an abolitionist
James buchanan, a moderate
Louis cass, a general and expansionist
From nashville came a dark horse riding up
He was james k. polk, napoleon of the stump
Austere, severe, he held few people dear
His oratory filled his foes with fear
The factions soon agreed
He's just the man we need
To bring about victory
Fulfill our manifest destiny
And annex the land the mexicans command
And when the vote was cast the winner was
Mister james k. polk, napoleon of the stump
In four short years he met his every goal
He seized the whole southwest from mexico
Made sure the tarriffs fell
And made the english sell the oregon territory
