Quotes about cellphone, page 5
Those Ingrates.....
as guests the welcome is made
after the roasted chicken and
the rice, come the fruits on
a silver tray and the cups of
red wine,
the conversations link from past
to present,
laughter decorates the veranda of
the house
glasses clink and the sound of
happy sipping pleases all
ears
music is played, and a bed is
offered for the night's sleep
they left two days after and it
was perfect free accommodation

Hi Tech
Salamat na lamang sa high technology
Na kahit huli na'y umabot pa kami
Kaming 'pinanganak noong ninteeen thirty's
At swerteng narating ang idad seventies
Ang tula na ito nang aking sulatin
Sign pen ang ginamit, substitute ay ballpen
Final draft, tinapos sa aking computer
Malinis na kopya'y ginawa sa printer
Extra copy nito'y puwedeng ipadala
Attachment sa email, by fax at meron pa
Surface mail at airmail, kundi kuntento ka
By Fedex, LBC, hari ng padala
Ang maraming kopya, paano gagawin
Noon ay photostat, masyadong maitim
O kaya'y mimeograph, a very messy thing
Tinta'y kumakalat sa pag-i-stencil
Ngayon nama'y xerox, pagkopya'y matulin

The Quiet Zone
When travelling on a train, in the ‘Quiet Zone, ’
Why do people have to use their mobile phones?
Above the train’s rumble, they need to be heard,
So they speak very loud, so you hear every word.
On the window, there’s a picture of a phone, with a cross,
But, on some people, this request, to be quiet, is just lost.
They continue to talk on their phones, despite the sign,
And they seem to think that this behaviour is just fine.
People also sit with their earplugs plugged in;
Their music, loud, so you can still hear the din.
You can hear the annoying, tinny sounding beat.
The object of such a zone, such actions defeat.
The train staff can’t watch every passenger there,
But, this disturbance, to others, doesn’t seem fair.
If you’re sitting there, quietly, attempting to read,
With such interruptions, you will fail to succeed.

I use my cell phone as much as I can - I talk to friends all the time. I'm like 2,000 hours a month. It's crazy.

Globalization And The Third World Countries
Globalization and the third world countries,
This light suppose to be outside than inside! !
And out of proverty to satisfy my muse,
For we are now holding Hi-Tec Mobile Phones in our hands.
All our natural resources are taken away at cheaper rates and,
The third world countries do pay back heavily on these Hi-Tec products! !
All in the name of globalization;
With cheap labour on our part to help grow the wealth of the Richer Nations!
And, we become poorer begging for alms than ever,
For, globalization has taken over our respective economies! ! !
But, always hoping that, there will be a better way out one day.

The Wal Mart Foot
I drove to Wal mart the other day
When I parked and got right out
A woman with a little girl
Began to cry and shout
“There’s a foot hanging out
Of a car right over there, ”
She pointed nearly hysterical
So of course I began to stare
My husband started to walk away
When I grabbed his arm and said
“Don’t leave now, look over there
Looks like somebody’s dead”
“It’s not real, ” he said with a glance
The woman’s cell phone was at her ear
“Oh yes it is, she said emphatically
“It is exactly what I feared”

To be happy in this world, first you need a cell phone and then you need an airplane. Then you're truly wireless.

A Telephone Call
it is surprising. A soul uses
a telephone for a call.
Are not telephones supposed
to be dead? They're alive
only for the those maids
who do not have cellphones,
they are for them. But it is
a surprise, it is my call.
Long distance from Vegas.
Midnoon. A sure way of
catching me, because she knows
i am home and not doing any
work at this hour.
she is crying. She says she
is depressed. All those that she
loves either die, or they simply
leave her. She wants to come home
and she's broke.

I Did Not Avoid You
we meet
and then i greet you
hello
you ignore me
by shifting your gaze
to the bus
you turned your head
left and right
right to left
and i wait for you to mind
me
and i stand still and look
at you still
you are bringing flowers
i think they are for me
you take the taxi
rushing
you close it and you do not
notice me crying
it rains and i get wet

You have to take into account it was the cell phone that became what the modern-day concept of a phone call is, and this is a device that's attached to your hip 24/7. Before that there was 'leave a message' and before that there was 'hopefully you're home.'

Me Visit From Small Village
Inconsistencies, mediocrity and incompetence,
Represent what factors...
That provide the basis for irresponsibility,
And a lack of accountability facing us all.
In your opinion?
'Me know nothing.
Me visit from small village,
On the other side of tall buildings.'
That's very strange.
You look just like the person,
Giving an interview here just yesterday.
'Me know nothing.
Me visit from small village,
On the other side of tall buildings.'
But...
You speak the language very clearly.

Juno Watt - Personality of the Year
Everyone’s talking about her
this last year: on their cellphones to her,
talking about her on their TV sofas,
breakfast and evening celeb shows,
at the hairdresser, in the bus queues..
‘Juno Watt? I’ve been asked to do TV…’
‘Juno Watt? I’ve got tickets to Mariah’s tour…’
‘Juno Watt? He’s proposed to me! ! ’
And the columnists are asking,
‘Will she last through to next year?
Will it be Celebrity Hopscotch for her
Or Celebrity Snakes and Ladders…?
Juno Watt.. I hear she’s dating…’
She's even been paid to endorse
the products Tiger left behind:

Just Around The Curve
another oil spill
hidden in small print
in the daily news....
somewhere behind
the Wall Street report,
the political hoopla...
and an ad for viagra.
maybe prostate cancer,
or the big truck hurtling
over the line just around
the curve....
smokestacks puffing,
cars backed up for miles...
cell phones ablaze...

Old Man Ed
My ankle bone’s connected to my leg bone
But it’s swollen like an old mobile phone
Busy signals called pain
I don’t know if I can take the strain
I rub it day after day, night after night
The days are gone when I’d start a street fight
Old Age is here, I don’t have to be told
Never thought it’d be like this getting old.

Scene Beside The Cemented Fence
a red motorcyle
stands beside
a cemented fence
where some vines
with yellow flowers
are stucked
beside it is a
sky blue van
which is open
and empty
a man with bold
big stripes for a shirt
is pressing keys
on his cellphone
the window of this room
is closed
and the world is seemingly
