Losing Love

cellphones cannot keep love.

emails cannot substitute for lunch
just the two of you
over a plate of spaghetti
a cup of coca cola

skypes are imitations of
our sounds
sometimes we are not the way
we sound in
cyberspace

Male Testosterone Invincibility

myth postulates teenage males
perceive themselves as invincible
consider themselves bullet proof

personally speaking as a past male
teenage survivor that rode the wild side
walked limped away where others died

accidents over 100 kph on open roads
accidents where nine out of ten died
I walked away from more than nine alive

friends used to come up touch me for luck
riding at speed in fools gear not full gear
living legends survived others swiftly died

Modern Correspondence

They instant message, swiftly, easily, taking away the tension,
those days we waited for the sound of the post are over.
Tumbling envelopes, letters drifting to the floor
are no more unless junk mail counts.

Now they have laptops, iPods, mobile phones,
click and touch and we meet within the void
in cyber space, out there,
a clinically cold compartment.

You can email to end a relationship, if you choose
without a tear, or fear of retaliation,
not even an intake of breath, or a sorry word,
just a strangers voice saying 'you've got mail'

An Era of Change

In My lifetime I experienced
an era of change
Television was invented in Colour
Racism came to and end as we had known it for years
Countries that once were, were no more
Communism was liberated
The great wall of china came down
Sexuality became open and freely explored
Implements of war were refined and massive
The seas began to rise
Global warming increased
Mobile phones were refined
Computers were invented and computer games took over
and I grew from innocent child
to worldly woman supplying the earth with four new groups
of future generations
