Quotes about subway, page 3

The politics of the Cape Town Metro, which allows an executive Mayoral committee to make secret decisions which affect you, behind closed doors, is wrong!

A Nice Middle Class Family

A Nice Middle-Class Family

I know the guy, who planned the Lisbon Metro,
he’s French, called Pierre and has a red beard,
the only famous man I know. He lives in a posh
part of Paris, his wife paints livid pictures, lots of
ruby, I wonder why, as nothing in Europe can be
more worthy than the French bourgeoisie.

Two pleasant daughters and a splendid son too
all firmly educated, they can play piano and sing.
His girls are married to young, simple men from
the cultured field of soft carpets and commerce.
They will do well, but not as ably as their father
who helped construct the great Lisbon Metro.

Yes, the Fish Music

A trout-colored wind blows
through my eyes, through my fingers,
and I remember how the trout
used to hide from the dinosaurs
when they came to drink at the river.
The trout hid in subways, castles,
and automobiles. They waited patiently for the dinosaurs to go away.

I would solve a lot of literary problems just thinking about a character in the subway, where you can't do anything anyway.

Melodie's Ride Home

Melodie to loves to hear the saxophone
she listens to it on her way home.
Sitting next to the sax player on the subway
she is happy inside and is very gay.
She does not want to leave at all
even though she is quite small.
Humans across from her on the other side
look at her in amazement
they are shocked inside.
That doesn't bother Melodie for she
is filled with pride—
Listening to lovely music on her subway ride.

The Beach

Squat, unshaven, full of gas,
Joseph Samuels, former clerk
in four large cities, out of work,
waits in the darkened underpass.

In sanctuary, out of reach,
he stares at the fading light outside:
the rain beginning: hears the tide
that drums along the empty beach.

When drops first fell at six o'clock,
the bathers left. The last car's gone.
Sun's final rays reflect upon
the streaking rain, the rambling dock.

He takes an object from his coat
and holds it tightly in his hand
(eyes on the stretch of endless sand).
And then, in darkness, cuts his throat.

Pastoral Malaise

In time, though snow would fall, barn will be warm,
As chores for Summer had been done complete
The sleepy spell that soon befalls the farm
Could not, by slightest bit its mirth deplete

The cows have all the hay on which to feed
With grains that with the fodder would enmesh
If hay is brown, I guess what cows would need
For each a green eyeglass, so things look fresh

The barn sparrows found crevices for nests
Though naught are seen by cat's eyes that explore
One way to find if flock thereat still rests
Is by droppings that scatter on the floor

Insects abide, in sizes big and small
And crawl among the bales, to chirp or play
Crickets and kin, that since the end of Fall
Have lodged as ground tenants without delay

Yes. I did more research than I ever wanted to and saw some things I wish I didn't. I went on ride-alongs, spent time with Homicide, Cold Case, and SVU detectives, hung out in subways learning how to spot pervs and pick-pockets, viewed an autopsy, went to a police firing range, and witnessed court cases and I read, read, read.

Haunts of men

The enigma of womanhood haunts
Men to be metro-sexual,
The one fastidious in appearance
Or to be a tetra-sexual,
And the one meticulous in service,
To earn a name in women’s heart.

0202 Elocution Practice For Verse Speakers

The life
on Mars
meets mainly in
the bars

they're found
by Underground,
that is, the Metro
they're mainly
hetero

so you may meet your
Mr Right
or maybe just
a meteorite

a Mars bar can
mislead a man.
