Lucy In The Subway

Lucy sells her flowers for a quarter apiece
She wound up on the streets
She could not pay her lease
She used to want to save the world
But nothing to her matters now
She lays bout the subway station
Clad in dirty tatters now
Lucys in the subway with daffodils
She lost all her diamonds
And she sold all her pills
Shes been around the block
But shes had too many thrills
Lucys in the subway with daffodils
Lucy holds a dixie cup
Of sixty cents in change
And if she looks you in the eye
You see that shes deranged
She flew too near the sun

his skin exudes
the native perfumes
his heart is filled with
native tunes
from village to
town to metro
did he migrate

Bubblehead

Spinning on a mound of battered and rival fools, and freaks look out
We really are the same behind our smiles of plasticene
Siting on a sofa, going over catch me in your hands
Stuck inside a vacuum tube, I've lost control
I can't get out
I can't break my bubblehead
And now the world is caving in
I can't break this bubblehead
The vacuum tube has sucked me in
No sense of gravity I'm drifting off into the heat again
Makes this river tease my paranoia bleeds inside my head
Bobbing in a submarine feels like I'm in an acid trail again

I was raised by a single mother who made a way for me. She used to scrub floors as a domestic worker, put a cleaning rag in her pocketbook and ride the subways in Brooklyn so I would have food on the table. But she taught me as I walked her to the subway that life is about not where you start, but where you're going. That's family values.

HURRICANE SANDY Nov 5th,2012

The northeast coast just got hit by hurricane Sandy at night,
And New York City just got one hell of an awful fright,
Houses, subways and taxis flooded and in distress,
Hospitals vacated without power and all on TV and in the press.




Many houses burned to the ground in New Jersey and power gone,
Many relatives drowned and we can't tell what's going on,
An extremely sad affair with the subway closed down,
And gas stations out of gas and can't get up or downtown.

Amongst Wealth And Fame

Amongst wealth and fame there is great poverty
With such things should not happen here most would agree
A poor homeless bloke with only a mattress for a bed
On the embankment under a railway underpass for six months lay dead.

Under the railway underpass he died where he lay
For months undiscoverd that seems sad to say
A man in his forties one without a friend
He lived a sad life and his was a sad end.

In Melbourne Victoria this must be a lie
In such a wealthy City people of neglect never die?
But the facts tell us differently and i must make it clear
That it is not of fiction i am writing of here.

Some of the less kind will tell you we live and die as we choose
That he was one of those blokes destined to lose
And though they are entitled for to air their views
They seem to make light of what is quite sad news.
