Conaway
Special anointing oil,
The woman sat on the bed and romantically tapped
the man on the arm!
But i am Conaway from the land of Kumchacha;
And i have something special to share with you.
Sensing,
You got married two weeks ago! !
Perception,
And like your love in Amsterdam Hotel;
But i am Conaway from the lnd of Kumchacha!
And i have something special to share with you.

Istanbul (Not Constantinople)
Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way
So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Why they changed it I can't say

Mr. Jones
I was down at the New Amsterdam staring at this yellow-haired girl
Mr. Jones srikes up a coversation with this black-haired flamenco dancer
She dances while his father plays guitar
She's suddenly beautiful
We all want something beautiful
I wish I was beautiful
So come dance this silence down through the morning

Rosemonde
Longtemps au pied du perron de
La maison où entra la dame
Que j'avais suivie pendant deux
Bonnes heures à Amsterdam
Mes doigts jetèrent des baisers
Mais le canal était désert
Le quai aussi et nul ne vit
Comment mes baisers retrouvèrent
Celle à qui j'ai donné ma vie
Un jour pendant plus de deux heures
Je la surnommai Rosemonde
Voulant pouvoir me rappeler
Sa bouche fleurie en Hollande
Puis lentement je m'en allai
Pour quêter la Rose du Monde

Anne Frank Where! -Anne Cycle Part 1
Anne Frank where are you
Where you are trees grown
Wrens sing larks chant
Wrens chirp, corws crow
Ashes somewhere- spread,
Mixed with soil
Wind blows- you find them in
Amsterdam, Chicago, Jakarta
I feel am lazy. So I make a bowl full
Muesli - pour refreshing, fridged
Milk onto choccie sickled half hollow shells
And crusty com hued flakes-thinking of you
Ye know, I'd chat you up, if you'd have grown to be older
And I travelled in time- I know l'll chat your sis up!

How to Make an Absolute Killing
Everyone but everyone wants to own a property in London
If theres a slight economic boom anywhere - in, say, India
Then, Indians will want to buy a place over here
Not in Paris. Not in the US
Not in places like Amsterdam
It's got to be London
People from every nook and cranny of the world
Where ever Britain had it's colonies
Are drawn like magnets to the 'Mother Country.'
I've lived in London for over 30 years
The Property market is simply booming
My palm is more than itching
So, when I sell my house
I hope and expect
To make an absolute killing!

Happiness comes from within.
You tried to wander across in shopping malls
Finding books across book stalls
Watching movies in cinema halls
No matter what you do, your conscience crawls
You tried a Europe tour
To find 'happiness' in that endeavour
Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin
Only posing in pictures with a grin
You stop and you ponder
Take a break, from routine you sunder
Inside yourself you find a cause
Produce happiness in your own warehouse
Now people read your face
Talk about your grace.
They describe the glow on your skin
You know why? because happiness comes from within.

A Shopkeeper’s Story
I sell one bristle brushes. People
seeking two bristle brushes I send
to the guy on Amsterdam, who’s in a rush.
I may have one customer a year
for my one bristle brushes, a one-eyed
lover of tanagers, she may have
one dollar to spend in the moment
light’s neither day’s or night’s,
but one’s where infinity begins. Whoever
she is, she’s always painting barbules,
I’m always thinking, no one will notice
that they notice this, that her tanagers
move, that everything’s alive. We talk
care and feeding of the one
bristle brush. Care exists. I thrive.

a pessimistic view from a balcony in Paris
A Pessimistic view from a Balcony in Paris
Fine rain, open umbrella, sitting on the balcony of a hotel
overlooking Haussmann – Saint Lazare. A throng of people
and cars, but something as changed, people drinks Starbuck
coffee and eat burgers on the hoof. Old restaurants are
closing or converted to fast-food joints. I sigh and drink from
a bottle of Bordeaux to avoid getting rainwater in my wine.
This place together with rue d’Amsterdam used to be where
the posh people lived and now, safe for the ruddy scrap yard
tower, this could have been downtown New York.

Unspoken Betrayal
It was not that she was my girlfriend she worked in a bar
and men was a part of her life and economic resources, but
For the duration she was my friend. You liked her too, but
the unspoken law was to keep away from your mate’s woman.
I was on duty and saw you sneak ashore at midnight.
Next day you avoided me. Nothing was said, we are all free
to follow our own moral norm, but we never met for drinks
anymore, whether in Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires.
A winter day in Amsterdam, and it was noon, I saw you walk
down the gangway, suitcase in hand, you didn’t turn to wave.

I am from Pretoria
Notwithstanding the way
that the country and world goes,
I still want to stand for many years
in the streets with purple-blue
Jacaranda trees.
Let my friends go and live
in London, New York,
Amsterdam and Sydney
but in Pretoria I earn my keep
and no other city
calls me away from my fatherland
since only Pretoria
is right for me.
I am from Pretoria,
a place where princes stay
and if you go to Pretoria
you will find many Afrikaner princes there.

Bleecker Street
Bleecker street, bleecker street
Sure like to find you underneath my feet
You make me feel kinda cool and complete
My down home one and only bleecker street
They say broadway cant be beat
And fifth avenue is pretty neat
But none of them big boys can compete
With my down home one and only bleecker street
I could be
In hawaii
Chasing waves
Admiring the sky
London, paris, amsterdam...
But Im just ecstatic
Where I am
Life is sexy, life is sweet
In manhattans ninety-six degree heat
Just pounding tar to my favourite beat
My down home one and only bleecker street

Modern Dance
Maybe I should go and live in amsterdam
In a side street near a big canal
Spend my evenings in the van gogh museum
What a dream, van gogh museum
Maybe its time to see tangiers
A different life-style, some different fears
And maybe I should be in edinburgh
In a kilt in edinburgh
Doin a modern dance
Doin a modern dance
Or maybe I should get a farm in southern france
Where the winds are wispy and the villagers dance
And you and I wed sleep beneath a moon
Moon in june and sleep till noon
And maybe you and I could fall in love
Regain the spirit that we once had
Youd let me hold you and touch the night
That shines so bright, so bright with fright
Doin a modern dance
Doin a modern dance

BROTHELS IN TORONTO June 25th,2011
It seems we may indeed have open brothels in Toronto soon,
The Charter of Rights and a lady who wanted to be immune,
Went to the Ontario Supreme Court and won her case,
So an open Toronto brothel may no longer be a disgrace.
The religious types and Toronto politicians are confused,
While some of them I think are more likely very amused,
Can’t have a brothel next door to a politician though,
The bright lights and tourists might leave the street all aglow.
The powerful media moguls of course are not amused,
They know the religious activists, whose egos might be bruised,
We should make bylaws for where brothels should and should not be,
Maybe go to Amsterdam, look in windows and walk around and see.

The Powerful and Their Drugs
Running the world is as
easy as rolling
righteousness in between the
Red, White, and Blue.
Wake and bake
with a bishop from Oaxaca.
Swiss banks sell speedballs
So you can soar to Sudan
like a seagull
But why go there?
Amsterdam, the back alleys of
China where cats
mumble their last meow,
Canada's so high they end
each sentence with an
'eh? '
Or it could be a birth
defect

To an angry sister
Sister, my sister
Why is it that you speak so loud?
Is it your way to be noticed?
Or your way to make yourself count?
Tell me sister, who will listen?
Who will see?
The words coming out of your mouth
are only those of hatred and bitterness
turning the beautiful sight of you into an ugly one
Why my sister
Is it that you don’t care?
Is it your arrogance
That you appearently seem to think is fine?
Is it your ignorance
Which is obvious when you say those stupid things
Or is it just you being self-centered
Thinking that’s what the worlds looking for?
No, my lovely sister
Is that really all there’s to know about you?
Is that all you have to give?

Alas I know not where to go - Letters from Amsterdam
Alas I know not where to go
Within this realm of shanty town insanities
Canals of ink weave between the fallen leaves
As footsteps upon the pavement beat out of time
With the miming of addict merchants rustling
Within the bustle of a thriving city life.
Blue skies over Amsterdam delude the mind
Of the love soaked mariner
The waves carved a line of froth that existed
Beyond the skylines fading
We boarded upon our Journey
Unknowing as to what we were to accomplish
No ground has been gained through disillusion
Yet these days I lay less confused
Upon the subject of my mindscape
Voices from the streets below echo
Throughout the stairwells of this hostel
This sanctuary of ours within which we
Pass away the time just as we pass away the hours.
Squalid surroundings ground

Doctor's Darling
The real thing of love is with you my lover and,
I have the street knowledge to look for you;
But, you always hide yourself on the 'Bond Street'.
You are the Doctor's Darling and,
I am in the dancehall looking for you;
And it is like Shabba Ranks in Amsterdam.
Mine oh mine!
I'm now walking with an Empress;
For i am the real winner of her heart and,
She is the Doctor's Darling.
Stick on my heart and stick on my roots,
For i am tough enough to lead you on;
And like the ace of base in the windy city,
I will be waiting for you in the dancehall.
This is a new chapter of love and,
I am like the echoes of the people around you;
