Delicious Surprise

(Beth Hart/Glen Burtnik)
If I won me the lottery
I'd dance naked in the street
With a top hat full of money
And you'd wanna get to know me
If I won me the lottery
And if I was a movie star
I'd sip honey from a pickle jar
In the back of my limousine
They'd call me an icon
And I'd be lookin' back at you
From the cover of the people magazine
Bridge: I guess it's all for the takin'
I guess it's all yours and mine
My sister says I got to see it and believe it
Chorus: I believe it
I believe it
If I am just an outside
I'm livin' in a trailor with a black and white tv set
If only I was president, yah

Have A Drink On Me (Fun Poem 58)

Started out this morning
feeling mighty glum,
late to work, everything went wrong.
Thought the day would never end.
Got home in the evening
feeling half dead no fun,
burnt my tea,
groaned what a day.
Turned on the TV
that brought a smile to my face.
Checked my lottery numbers,
lo and behold I won.
So have a drink on me
I’m on a spending spree
with the big tenner
that I have won.

Fragment from Sappho

some say.....
golden children....
a gracious wife....

a house on a hill
a summergarden...
slung with a hammock..

tillable land.......
cash in the hand....
no bills to pay.....

abundant health.....
a lusty life........
free from strife....

good conscience....
a great body.......
the god's-peace

A Singular Blessing

A SINGULAR BLESSING
Edward Iacona

This blessing is for those of us
Who have surely felt bereft.
From losing one so close and loved
That changed their heart and left.

For those that felt their soul mate
Made vows they would never renege.
For experiencing our legal system
That costs an arm and a leg.

For losing the things that brought you joy
Including old records pressed in vinyl.
May you win millions in the lottery,
After your divorce is final.

The Seasons of Giving

“I Wanna Be A Billionaire, ”
And so I wish - Bruno Mars
Tell me about this Seasons of Giving
When you have nothing
Those numbers keep on rolling
And mine are lazy
Stubborn
In that cage of Lottery
Friends and relatives are praying,
They too wish they’re millionaires
But what is Seasons of Giving means
If all are rich and got everything
A joke once told me
“Luck comes when I’ll be old and gray
For all started young
In line
Praying to God”

The Fixs

I know a lot of guys cause damage

to your heart and put in the dark

and only took you out there shadow

when they needed you Im here to repair

that leak in your heart that cause fears

loneliness, isolation, from being in a

relationship just to see you laugh and

smile in person and not over text message

would a be a perfect picture maybe that'll

be the day I hit the lottery because I've pulled

The vagabond that holds a World Citizen Passport?

He's informed by the Euro Lottery Board for winning the biggest prize.
And until it comes he has taken a loan from a bank.
As he wants to visit Sri Lanka.
He visited the ancient rock Sigiriya.
A woman in the frescoes with garlands of flowers
Fall in love with him.
He promised to take her to some landmarks of the World.
Here they go;
She's surprised by seeing Taj Mahal and thought of Shah Jahan & Mumtaz Mahal
If they too are like them?
Then they have been to Angkor Wat in Cambodia
And luckily Polpot was not there.
Opera house in Australia and they talked to some native Aborigines.
Pyramids of Giza in Egypt among the rebels.
O Parthenon in Greece where the civilization begun.
They watched the bell ringing in St.Basil's Cathedral, Russia.
In Tanzania marvelous mountain Kilmanjaro
And they climbed the Eifel Tower with a French tour guide.
Stonehenge in England joined the colonial friends
And the mountain top Cristo Redentor the statue of Jesus Christ in Brazil.

Special Needs

Special Needs breed creativity
Permitting change extending human scope,
Encourage opportunities to cope,
Compensating inner doubts to free
Ideas and feelings, as the Present's plea
Answered is, providing all with hope.
Life's lottery incentives gives. We grope,
Now well, now worse, in our diversity,
Ever onwards, seeking ways to see
Ever outwards, - search with telescope
Deep hidden truths which, slippery like soap,
Sleep hid within each one in pregnancy.

White Trucks

It was on the day of the 24th
I saw white pickup trucks galore.
Now that was unusual I do say
it didn't happen again till pass the
month of May.
It happened in June -
but instead of one now there is two-
white trucks appear out of the blue.
Maybe I am suppose to buy a white truck—
maybe I will have all kinds of luck—
I know I can't play a truck in the lottery game—
but I can buy one and on the back put my name.

Mystery of the Mind Poem - The Mind reveals secrets to me

i looked at
the two notes
and as soon as
i wanted to put
them into my wallet
my mind nudged me
to reexamine them
as there were something
unique about them

'what? are you talking again? '
it hummed a sigh in me
i took several looks

'what? another look?
arent they just similar
two dollar notes? '

he nudged again
'well, it can only be the numbers'

Sun Shine On Me

When I was younger,
I thought I would be a someone,
but that was not to be,
the rains came down,
by a dropp and a drop,
until they just drown me,
placed to me on a different path,
then I thought I should have been,
that is me once again,
wishing on the lottery,
now laughing at my own misery,
can't there be day light,
can't the sun just shine on me,
can someone just love,
this broken hearted fool,
can the sun, just for once be on me,
that would be so cool.

The Nagging Wife Won The Prize

There was a news from New Zealand,
about a nagging wife and a hesitant husband.
The wife was nagging her husband to buy a lottery ticket,
who was reluctant and hesitant,
postponing until 2 minutes before the sale closed.
The ticket won the prize.....the highest and the most.
It was about 4.2 millions NZ dollars.
They could'nt be happier.
The husband thanks his nagging wife,
for the rest of his life,
because the nagging has its bright side,
making them millionaire overnight.

A Very Sad Movie At A Dark Horizon?

I have not been to a movie theater
and it's really boring this life here? '
My beloved grumbles.
I pacified her;
'See this news darling
What a sad happening?
A gunman killed twelve at a theater in Aurora Mall, Colorado
and fifty nine wounded, and it's safe watching the movies
at home?
That's why I try everyday a scratch lottery
If it works properly, definitely
My first preference is buying a T.V. and a CD player
for you! '

*My deepest sympathies to all the victims and their families.

Just to Share Their Good Wishes

Often folks are depicted,
To be less influencial than they are.
Most times than none,
This is done by relatives and friends of some.
With a demeaning of one's character.
From an innocence that is done!

Now...
If the one who is victimized,
Wins the lottery...
Or some other monetary prize.
Relatives, friends and those unknown,
Expose themselves from beyond closed doors...
And everywhere else,
To make themselves known.

Just to share their good wishes!
And...
Of course a taste,
Of what for them they find delicious.

And he writes;
'I buy a bottle of red wine
from the lottery scratch
but it's not much?
Just a ten dollar bill.
And I try to eradicate
my bad cholesterol.
I take only a teaspoon
before the supper
but I noticed the level
that goes down faster
to the bottom,
Then only I realized
It's a tablespoon
I have used?

*to that homeless who said; 'If this not a non-filter cigarette we could have shared it brother, believe me I do not have any sexual transmitted diseases and try a puff if you like? '

Sonnet7

The sky is wide, but not so wide, my dear
a bird can't find my head to void upon
The earth is broad, but not so broad I fear
my foot can't find a load to happen in.
Carefully selected from its peers
the rose I've chosen always hides a bee.
Umbrellas guarantee the weather clears
forgetting one, a shower bodes for me.
After standing hours in the cold
the ticket window closes in my face
All that I considered to be gold
actually, they tell me now, was dross.
Things are, you can plainly, bad, see-
it may be time to play the lottery.

The soul also must be fed

When others smoke happily in street corners
He too smiles poor fellow!
When passing the dim Pubs
He's very aggressive.
In a narrow path of a starry night
When baby dolls dance
He too dance with a yawn.
He explained to himself
The strange guy;
'Please wait and don't be hurry,
This tricky lottery of life
Does a miracle soon
And I fulfill all your innocent dreams.
I'll buy an expensive grey color metalic painted Hearse
And we do a full-blooded round trip Chum!

*Humbly I dedicate this scribbling to my poet friend Paddy. Martin
