Quotes about lottery, page 3

We decided to either try trades or just go with older players. If you do that and let contracts expire you can be in the lottery for about four or five years and expect your fans to be patient.

There are, it is true, at present no great prizes in literature such as are offered by the learned professions, but there are quite as many small ones - competences; while, on the other hand, it is not so much of a lottery.

Uncertain Is A Hand To Destiny

uncertain is a hand to success
uncertain is a hand to lottery
uncertain is a hand to richness
uncertain is a hand to luck
uncertain is a hand to certainty of impermanence
wow! life is a bridge to uncertainty to oneness(+ and -)

W. M. A.

He won the lottery when he was born
Took his mothers white breast to his tongue
Trained like dogs, color and smell
Walks by me to get to him police man (2x)
He won the lottery by being born
Big hand slapped a white male merican
Do no wrong, so clean cut...
Dirty his hands, it comes right off
Police man (2x)
Police stopped my brother again (3x)
Police man (2x)
Jesus greets me...looks just like me...
Do no wrong, so clean cut
Dirty his hands, it comes right off
Police man (3x)
Police stopped my brother again (3x)
Police man (2x)
Police stopped my brother again (3x)
Police man (3x)
All my pieces set me free...human devices set me free...

A pleasant mood of a ragged Angel!

A street child smiled
As a Lottery Winner!
And I inquired.
She has found a pencil stub
and an eraser
in a trash bin?

The Lottery Monster

Get you purses out ladies
And rattle your cash
Get along to the ticket-booth
Go have a bash;
Your pounds and your pennies
I'm longing to see
I'm the Lottery monster
So listen to me.

The Lottery monster
He has to be fed
He lives on cold cash
Just as you live on bread;
So throw any caution you had
To the wind
Your jackpotted dreams
To six numbers are pinned.

The holiday money
You keep in that tin

May this plain statement of facts prevail on the friends of the rising generation to interpose for their welfare; that the education of children may no longer be to parent and master a lottery, in which the prizes bear no proportion to the enormous number of blanks.

A Tease Ate At Ease

Forty-five fragile film frames flickered fast,
Offered fragile existential fantasy.
Rehearsal? repetition? f[o]ray fancy-free?
Timed role’s played only once before cold blast.
Youth spins loaded dice, Styx stones cast, fall forecast,
Fickle fate finesses foresight finicky.
Iconoclastic? idyllic? lottery
Voids mortal cyphers’ sore core scores. Vacuum vast.
Emphemeral existence fades fast. Past
Youth clings, sings, rings prime passed preparing Lethe -
Exit pursued by bare Life’s absurdity.
A tease ate at ease? Flea’s frieze freeze, picked, nicked, repast.
Rose scent sent doom dissolves all errors paid,
Stage gauged age paging, gloom’s page terror greyed.

Forty-five frames flicker fast,
Opt out of final fantasy.
Rehearsal over, piper’s fee
Toxic toxin tolled. Cold blast.
Yearned remission ends, soon past.

I don't know if it has set in or not. Honestly, it's crazy. It's such an amazing honor. I remember thinking back to being in my room waiting for the call to see if I got the part. It's like winning the lottery. I'm proud to be a member of such an amazing cast - that's the best award of all.

The One Percent

They are hidden, the mythical they,
in the details of business from day to day
helping, harming, nudging, farming
ceaselessly upset by the peaceful, disarming...

Theories are useful, some men would say,
in the managing of money and planning of play
buying, selling, directing, impelling
forever content to grow fat and start smelling...

Too much excess, has spilled from our dish
and bled out our coffers for the cause of the rich
living, surviving, scheming, conniving
intent on construction by poor men depriving

Let one man stand tall, atop millions of bodies,
impressing himself with constructing lotteries
grabbing, leeching, killing, preaching
with apt disregard for his actions impeaching

Unpaid Labour!

Unpaid labour!
Lost in the paradise of slavery where race is kinship;
But this ostensible lottery is what you need to survive! !
And like someone churning out unpalatable public statements,
But, the sorrows at home have made this a splendid delivery!
For, one man's meat is another man's poison.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

It is commonly observed that a sudden wealth, like a prize drawn in a lottery or a large bequest to a poor family, does not permanently enrich. They have served no apprenticeship to wealth, and with the rapid wealth come rapid claims which they do not know how to deny, and the treasure is quickly dissipated.

The Lottery

The Lottery

Through their mind’s eye, patiently they stood gazing to the sky,
peering through the floating cloud, hoping to spot the pot
of gold at the end of the rainbow.

From a shorter distance, a day in the month of May,
and in the solitude of self, I studied the long line of
Mona Lisa faces against expectations and probabilities.
Some leaned on canes; others rode in wheelchairs;
still others held up under their own weight.

As the single column shrunk, it grew with young mothers
and their laughing children ducking under their
grasping hands, and using them as Maypoles.

My mind got a glimpse of a young mother with a cute little
house etched on her face for she and the baby
on her hip, and the toddler tugging at her skirt.

Alison here Autumn's going to start and tell others

Thanks for your kind words
Also Jerry's warmest regards,
My wife too sends her hugs to you all,
Here Autumn is going to start soon and they call fall,
Yellow foliage in jaundiced color.
My wife grumbles that her piggy till's level goes down
As I steal pennies like a magician for my Cuban cigar.
When I was drunk I stammered, 'Darling if we have a Son,
We could have form a musical group named 'The three stooges meet Herculeas.'
I always see your precious garden through your poem paintings,
Does the bard Paddy Martin resides near by?
He too a very nice character found in poetfreak,
So life goes as usual Sun rises and Sets according to the Master's instructions,
Homeless they sleep on the roads here and dream heaven on and off it seems?
Wish that tricky life smile at all with yours,
I buy lotteries and if luck pinches by a mistake
Definitely We jump over the Great Barrier reef
And see you all without an invitation!
Take care and good luck!
Let's smile together until the hardest breath crawls,

Key to Your Peace

Slim chance you'll find your pot of gold,
With the purchase of a lottery ticket sold.
You hold everything you need right there.
Don't look around...
Look inside if you dare!

Rabbit's foot OR crytals rubbed...
Four-leaf clovers OR black cats snubbed!
Lucky charms OR psychic 'sights'!
If you really want a restful sleep at night!
Know you're the key to your peace!

Who's That Girl, Who Is She?

You will love the way she walks
You will love the way she talks,
Her touch will tingle your skin
She is truly your lottery win,

Your dream girl that you did find
Everything fits perfect in your mind.
You paths have crossed by fate,
Who is this girl that you did date?

It’s in the cards you cannot tarry
She’s the one,
......................that you will marry!

3. I Nearly

I nearly won the football pools
The man next door won first
I nearly found a dog with speed
But I must have picked the worst

I nearly won the national
The jockey’s horse was shying
I nearly won the lottery
But I know the balls weren’t trying

I nearly won the boat race
The team I picked didn’t start
But I really won the one I love
When you came first in my heart

Where I find a treasure-trove?

A Dollar coin stuck in my sticky wallet
And I salute the face that engraved on the coin,
The sixth President of the United States of America
Mr.John.Quincy.Adams who resembles my benevolent maternal grandpa.
I would like to Scratch a lottery to build up my treasury
But I am scared that I'll loose the coin which guards my magical wallet(notes fly & coins remain) since a long time.

Lucky?

The lottery hit well over 500 million bucks,
And everyone was making plans
As if they'd already got the dough -
Some made lists of unneeded vices,
Others, plans to invest it all
(' 500 million just isn't enough these days ya know! ') -
So many - who mind you hadn't even won yet -
Were quickly showing signs of paranoia,
Plans to move far away, change phone numbers, get lawyers,
security systems, gaurds, and guns!
(' gotta be prepared ya know,
this kinda cash can cause friends to turn on ya! ') -
The day before they lived without a worry.
Then so suddenly, overcome with the emotion of it all
Their fear ran amuck:
' What if strangers call,
asking for a buck? ! '
' How dare the vagrants so bold be,
to ask for even a pittance
from one of such wealth as me? ! '

A question of time

When is midlife?
If one lives to 100
then 50 is midpoint
70? then 35 is it
Does age cause spirituality?
If so, then why?
Death comes at any age
or at any time
Why think about death
when it can take you
anytime or anywhere?
Choose your battles
even with death
decide your own fate
rather than leave it
up to the cosmic lottery
It is possible to cheat death
depending on what you think
is midlife.
