Quotes about cross, page 4

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place, and in the sky, The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard among the guns below.

When a violent minority that crosses color lines comes to believe that killing those you know or do not know is a reasonable solution to problems, we are in need of another vision.

They Hung Him On A Cross (Demo, 1989)

They hung him of a cross
They hung him on a cross
They hung him on a cross for me
One day when I lost
They hung him on a cross
They hung him on a cross for me
They whooped him up the hill
They whooped him up the hill
They whooped him up the hill for me
One day when I lost
They hung him on a cross
They whooped him up the hill for me
He never said among them would
They never said among them would
They never said among them would for me
One day when I lost
They hung him on a cross
They hung him on a cross for me
They hurt him in the side
They bit him in the side

I'd Cross a Fire

I'd Cross a Fire

I'd Cross a Fire,
To move heaven and earth to keep you by my side!
I'd Cross a Fire,
To climb to a mountain top to shout I love you!
I'd Cross a Fire,
To swim the deepest ocean to see the smile on you!
I'd Cross a Fire,
To walk a thousand miles just to see you!
I'd Cross a Fire,
To keep your love forever in my heart
I'd Cross a Fire,
To keep us bonded together never apart!

Same Sentence

At Calvary three crosses stand,
where the rebel, Jesus, died.
With him, two petty criminals-
were also crucified.

Per legend, one man begged relief
sought pardon as he died.
The other merely mocked the Lord,
as they hung side by side.

The first rebuked the second man:
“No fear of God, you slime?
We both bear the same sentence-
just judgment for our crime.”

“But this man who did nothing wrong
with us is crucified.

At cross road

Never but at cross road,
Are we at cross road?
Is there any load?
Why not we meet?
Even at cross road.

Are we blood thirsty?
And care for no one,
who may come but none?
Doesn’t concern everyone?
Even at cross road.

Can we not share?
Misery and poverty,
happiness and unhappiness,
hunger and roofless human,
even at cross road.

Why do we cut?

Livin it up

He took one last look
Tossed that address book
His odyssey has begun
No time to see sights
Ran all the red lights
Burned all his bridges
Now its love on the run
Chorus:
Livin it up
Is takin all of his time
But he aint givin it up
It suits his temperament fine
Up on the bandstand
Plays for a few fans
Workin for minimum wage
He spots her lookin
His brain is cookin

The Joke At Golgotha

try going to golgotha
and see
if you can find a joke there

try your wits and humour
on skulls
and carcass
and crosses and
crucifixions

yes the carcass
funny
you can see her ass.

The Golden Hour

Only time will tell when my cross
joins the thousands upon the side of this road
I've traveled a thousand times before
and a tousand more will follow
for tomorrow does not exist.

Rain upon my back is nothing
but a track to set thoughts into motion.
The kind of motion that steps in time and place
yet with a pace killing heart beats and silent speaks.

Black marks upon ourselves
we roll with thunderous hellhounds on our tails.
Forward is the only notion needed when
Death beats at the door with a
house warming gift fit for a losing king.

Those lost,
who had their youthful loom snipped
by the three shrews of fate;

In short, all things that please the natural man in this world, are, to a true Christian, only so many crosses and temptations, allurements of sin and snares of death, that continually exercise his virtue.

Three Wooden Crosses

a farmer and a preacher a hooker and a teacher
Ridin on a midnight bus
bound for Mexico
one was headed for vacation
one for higher education
and two of them were searchin for lost souls
and that driver never ever saw the stop sign
and eighteen wheelers can't stop on a dime
Chorus:
there are three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway
why there's not four of them heaven only knows
I guess it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you
It's what you leave behind you when you go
That farmer left his harvest
A hime and eighty acres
the faith and love for growing things in his young son's heart
and that teacher left her wisdom in the minds of lots of children
did her best to give em all a better start
and that preacher whispered, "can't you see the promise land"
as he laid his blood stained bible in that hooker's hand

Spackling

While there are many roads
I have traveled
and random ones
where I had no control;
who I travel with
is one decision
I did have some say with.

Even as I have been swept
ahead unpredictability
I have held your hand
with which to steady myself with.

So much of life
I now realize
is not the road you take
but who you travel with.

And you my love
have

Empty Pockets

what does it mean to be free
does anybody care
the lost sounds of liberty
the last honest prayer
if Jesus died for my sins
then why do i still hurt
cant justify where i've been
drawing circles in the dirt

does love have a face
or no face at all
yes, and is there any place
for the little man to fall
and if God still cares
why are things so hard
crosses burning in the night
empty pockets in the heart

now what's the price of life
will anybody pay

The Fields Of Flanders

Last year the fields were all glad and gay
With silver daisies and silver may;
There were kingcups gold by the river's edge
And primrose stars under every hedge.

This year the fields are trampled and brown,
The hedges are broken and beaten down,
And where the primroses used to grow
Are little black crosses set in a row.

And the flower of hopes, and the flowers of dreams,
The noble, fruitful, beautiful schemes,
The tree of life with its fruit and bud,
Are trampled down in the mud and the blood.

The changing seasons will bring again
The magic of Spring to our wood and plain;
Though the Spring be so green as never was seen
The crosses will still be black in the green.

Southern Man

Southern man better keep your head
Dont forget what your good book said
Southern change gonna come at last
Now your crosses are burning fast
Southern man
I saw cotton and I saw black
Tall white mansions and little shacks.
Southern man when will you pay them back?
I heard screamin and bullwhips cracking
How long? how long?
Southern man better keep your head
Dont forget what your good book said
Southern change gonna come at last
Now your crosses are burning fast
Southern man
Lily belle, your hair is golden brown
Ive seen your black man comin round
Swear by God Im gonna cut him down!
I heard screamin and bullwhips cracking
How long? how long?

I went across the fields to avoid the straight highways, along the firing lines where people were shooting at a small wooded hill, which is now covered with wooden crosses and lines of graves instead of spring flowers.

River’s Utterance

River’s utterance
Known to both the banks;
Inform you river

Tell him that I am
Sitting on side of bank-
When boat anchor

Swimming is unknown
I am totally helpless;
How to cross river

All time day-night
High or low tide boat flows-
Crosses the river

O! Why the boat
You took him dropping me;
No life except her.

Unless It Is Addressed

Unless it is addressed.
And anyone hears from me,
A solicitation for suggestions.
No one who crosses my threshold,
Is invited to give opinions...
Regarding my chosen lifestyle,
Within the walls of my comfort zone.
And IF I am roaming around butt naked...
Feel free to also do so!

Why some people take it upon themselves,
To want to recreate someone else's space...
And not practice good visiting guest skills,
Is something one does...
When a comfort has surprassed,
The disrespect zone.
And in my home when that begins,
An exit is requested with a...'You can go home! '

Unless it is addressed.

The River

The river that crosses the high plain like
an artery has only muddy water since it
didn´t rain in the summer.
Wild horses and donkeys come here to
drink, but often they look up and scan
the horizon weary of man and his dogs.
They served mankind for thousands of
years but with modern farming methods
they are no longer needed and have gone
feral. Free now, but freedom comes at
a prize, winter can be hard and often they
are hunted by sportsmen who kill for fun.
By the mountain there is a corral but only
the stupid and sick go there, the rest know
they are fattened up and used as sausage
meat, which the town uphill is famous for.
Every Octobers there is a gigantic party in
the hill town, beer is senselessly drunk and
tons of sausages eaten, the river, that crosses
the plain, becomes a putrid pool of human
