Quotes about The Rolling Stones, page 2
We wanted Nike to be the world's best sports and fitness company. Once you say that, you have a focus. You don't end up making wing tips or sponsoring the next Rolling Stones world tour.

Rolling Stones, Beatles, we gave them all the break they were looking for. All they needed was a good opening act, and we went out there and performed as well as we could... over 15,000 kids chanting.

Adam Levine and I remade the Rolling Stones' classic Wild Horses, and it is right up my alley, that whole style. It has a style of its own but still stays very true to the classic arrangement, and I love it.

It doesn't really change, actually. I think The Rolling Stones have gotten a lot better. An awful lot better, I think. A lot of people don't, but I think they have, and to me that's gratifying. It's worth it.

I can put a hip-hop beat to reggae. That is, I can have real reggae in the drums and in the rhythm, and on top of it I can put The Rolling Stones' feeling, anyone's feeling on top. Nobody has ever done this before, man.

I know I didn't like that dress 'cause it didn't fit but I thought it was a great picture. We weren't the first band to do a picture in drag; The Rolling Stones were. If it was good enough for them then it had to be good enough for us.

It's like this - these five members have been influenced of course by other groups, because that's where this generation's groups came from - an environment like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, and The Who. People like that.

When people talk about the '60s I never think that was me there. It was me and I was in it, but I was never enamoured with all that. It's supposed to be sex and drugs and rock and roll and I'm not really like that. I've never really seen the Rolling Stones as anything.

No Moss But Still Life
no rolling stones anymore
gathering no moss
laundary service on moment to moment mental motion
dependent origins of happenings in life
no home is attached to a space in heart
only the zero-moment of change
no ying and yang
no satory
only zero-moment of change towardss the realization of nothingness
no moss for a voyager of stillness

I met an Honest man in this precarious World
Yes, on the street
While I was idling
He sleeps on the road happily
And he said very politely;
'Brother I tell you frankly
I don't know how to write my name properly.'
I shouted 'Ureka! And I met an honest person
His name is Man.'
*' I can't help living in a society that pays the Rolling Stones more than its Prime Minister.'

Curling Waters
The tide rolls in on curling waters,
then stretches its fingers to touch the shore.
It hisses as each wave breaks
and its white waters pound against
the sands and rolling stones.
We can sit for hours watching
its endless race
to see which finger
can go farthest up the shore.
Its waters then retreat
as a new wave takes its place.

Avenue Of Thought
Every avenue of thought
has to be inspired by something
living or inanimate.
It registers in our brain
as something we like or hate.
We never know what it is
until we confront it in our life
and it inspires us to write.
From rolling stones to breaking bones,
a kiss that promises sweet bliss.
Anything can prompt
that avenue of thought.

I Go Crazy
I took my baby to see a heavy band
But I never saw my baby till the encore
She had the singer by the hand
I didnt wanna cry cause I had to be cool
I didnt wanna tell you that youre too cruel
Did you have to run off with that dog-gone fool?
All I gotta do is think about you
Evry night and day I go crazy
All I gotta do is get my hands on you
You better stay away from me baby
I wouldnt mind the postman if the neighbours didnt know
Or the gas man the electric man - man to fix the car
Id have to let it go
But you had to bring me down for a rock n roll clone
Leave me like a sucker standing all alone
Did you have to run off with that rolling stone?
All I gotta do is think about you
Evry night and day I go crazy
All I gotta do is get my hands on you
You better stay away from me baby

Stolen Kiss
The waters rippled on an incoming tide
The shimmering finger of the moon
Danced on the small waves
A hiss of rolling stones broke the silence
As waves invaded and retreated on the shore
They walked oblivious to it all
The silent whispers from their eyes
Told the age old story
As they strolled beneath the heavens
With its millions of eyes
No voices broke the stillness
Of their evening bliss
The smiles etched on their faces
Only spoke of a stolen kiss

So Many Silences
it is no longer that question
whether one is happy or not
it is a matter of just meeting moments
using the eye
feeling those hands
and then as usual making goodbyes
it is a routine repeating one after the other
meanings rubbing elbows with other elbows
useless chatter empty promises rolling stones
nothing mossy temporary wetness
sunny days cool shades eyeopening
nothing pleading
washing out letting go
social cliches drained brains

Borrowed Tune
Im climbin this ladder,
My head in the clouds
I hope that it matters,
Im havin my doubts.
Im watchin the skaters
Fly by on the lake.
Ice frozen six feet deep,
How long does it take?
I look out on peaceful lands
With no war nearby,
An ocean of shakin hands
That grab at the sky.
Im singin this borrowed tune
I took from the rolling stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own.
Im climbin this ladder,
My heads in the clouds
I hope that it matters.

Mick Jagger, R.I.P.
Where will you be, Sir Michael Jagger,
Deep in the earth, all dust and bones,
You with the ego and testosterone swagger,
Proud to be king of the Rolling Stones?
Where will you be when your songs are forgotten
And somebody else is a household name?
Your bones will decay and your flesh go rotten,
This is the end of your glory and fame.
You never could get no Satisfaction
With Honky-tonk Women or sweet Lady Jane,
You've gone to a place where you don't feel pleasure,
You don't even have the reassurance of pain.
I guess you would like your Mother's Little Helper,
Something to prove you do really count,
Time Waits For No Man, the party is over,
You Can't Always Get What You Want.

Pretty Whitehaven
Whitehaven, Britain, on the
Banks of the Mersey
Steeped in Industrial history...
Not 'The Fog on the Tyne is All Mine'
But Mersey sunshine makes
Whitehaven divine.
Where north-west breezes blow
Whitehaven Harbour lights are aglow.
And the pretty Cumbrian town
Lives on, recalling coalfields of
Long ago, when imported tobacco
Was the status quo.
'Ferry Cross The Mersey' -
A popular song; this song worldwide
Could do no wrong! Jerry and the
Pacemakers turned up the heat
Whilst The Beatles & Rolling Stones
Turned on the beat.

Why we never had to
Take him out
The way we did
Jack and Bobby
His two
Irsh punk brothers
They thought
They could double deal
After we delivered
For their dad
Old man Joe
He knew
Who he had
To take care of

Sway
originally by Rolling Stones
Did you ever wake up to find
A day that broke up your mind
Destroyed your notions of circular time
It's just that demon life that got you in its sway
It's just that demon life that got you in its sway
Ain't flinging tears out on the dusty ground
For my friends up on the railway upperbound
Can't stand the feeling getting so brought down
There must be ways to find out
Love is the way they say is really strutting out
One day I woke up to find
Right in the bed next to mine
Someone who broke me up with a corner of her smile
