The night has fallen asleep
And the city has fallen asleep also
The snowstorm started

Winter arrived today
Today we got our first
Snowstorm of the year
Nobody was ready for it yet
It came without warning

The patient watches
The patient watches. Six days long
In frenzy blizzards rave relentlessly,
Roll over rooftops, roar along,
Brace, rage, and fall, collapsing senselessly.
In snowstorms Christmas is consumed.
He dreams: they came and lifted someone.
He starts: 'Whom? Me?' There was a call,
A tolling bell… Not New Year's summons?
Far, in the Kremlin, booms Ivan,
Dives, drowns, resounds in swaying motion.
He sleeps. When great, a blizzard can
Be called Pacific, as the Ocean.

Ode On Snow
Snowstorms!
Piles of snow!
Soft, crystalline white snowflakes!
Feathered rain!
Powder snow!
Falling snow!
Up to the kneecaps snow!
Snow stuck on sidewalks and streets!
Snowballs!
Snowmen!
Snowdrift!
Sledding on soft snow!
Crunching snow!
Snow cones!

December 31
With the hint of a teardropp in my eye
I hug the year goodbye.
In silent thought
I recall the times together -
The snowstorms
The plays
The too few movies
The wedding at the beach
The limo ride to a television show
Being in the audience of another
Being a juror
The insanity of a terrorist.
Now, with the year's last breath
I caress the year gently
and whisper a fond farewell.

I think we are bound to, and by, nature. We may want to deny this connection and try to believe we control the external world, but every time there's a snowstorm or drought, we know our fate is tied to the world around us.

The Winter's Spring
The winter comes; I walk alone,
I want no bird to sing;
To those who keep their hearts their own
The winter is the spring.
No flowers to please--no bees to hum--
The coming spring's already come.
I never want the Christmas rose
To come before its time;
The seasons, each as God bestows,
Are simple and sublime.
I love to see the snowstorm hing;
'Tis but the winter garb of spring.
I never want the grass to bloom:
The snowstorm's best in white.
I love to see the tempest come
And love its piercing light.
The dazzled eyes that love to cling
O'er snow-white meadows sees the spring.

As You Promise Me
as you promise me
to write a poem
about winter
here in my warm country
i waited
for the coming of rain
at least to feel
what coldness means
when it is promised
to come
through the words
of your
winter poem
the sun is up in
our tropical skies
the snowstorm
still rages in my mind

Shelter(Acrostic Style)
Safe structure and shield from life's snowstorm.
Haven of grace, comfort often taken for granted.
Enemies dare not trespass.
Large is the light and the space for rest.
Temporary refuge for needy seekers.
Emotional stability within the old, hallowed walls.
Reprieve for mankind and then begin again.

Woe of a Fallen Leaf
Oh! Blizzard, you scalped me out the tree
Where was I ecstatic and free
Seperated being am I, can't be in glee,
Rendered me out of spree.
Behold! you, the young green leaf,
I know your vanity 'i am a young stuff'.
You now are a part of Tree in the buff
And I'v been under an awful cliff.
Before my falling people got my favours,
But now, Blizzard, you made me in chaos
Letting me fall down deep into crisis.
Oh God! Turn my hereafter in your bliss.

Mindfog
this day
the frost has
frozen over the glass, and
the doors are snow-stuck shut
fog is dense,
milky like blind eyes
and my feet fall
through unexpected inches
when I step past sidewalk
onto the snowsuffocated grass
pairs of ghostlights drift along
the road, roaring and humming
as they hover in the quiet,
trying to find still in the snowstorm.
a morning
where we awaken
to the same night

Crybaby
Does the weather make me suffer more than anyone
Was a dark cloud assigned to hound me
Does the rain fall heaviest on where I stand
Is the sun's ire directed straight at me
Was the cold wind told I must be followed
Was the snowstorm summoned to bury me
Is the weather really cruel or am I just a
crybaby! : (

Proposed Marriage
What weary loneliness
When I'm swimming alone
In such dreadful weather at dawn.
When I saw you last,
We were sweltering
In unrelenting summer
And the sweat was dripping
Like tears from your brow.
But now, I wish I could walk with you
Along the same paths
Under any conditions,
snowstorms or parched earth.
Yesterday, I saw a woman who looked like you,
But Loud and drunk, at the races;
If I hadn't been so painfully sober,
I might have kissed her
Or proposed marriage.
