Aspirin Damage
I get these killer headaches
I get one everyday
I wake up with a migraine
Since you ran away
Got a load of tension
Burnin' up my neck
Something is wrong with my suspension
So pass those tablets to this wreck
Aspirin damage, Aspirin damage
Kills the pain, destroys the brain
No one told me 'bout Aspirin damage
Sometimes I find myself shakin'
From the medication taken
Oh yeah.
I balance my Excedrin
And Anacins in stacks
I'm a pain reliever junkie
I got a Bayer on my back.
I went to see the doctor
He walked me down the hall

Today
Oh! kangaroos, sequins, chocolate sodas!
You really are beautiful! Pearls,
harmonicas, jujubes, aspirins! all
the stuff they've always talked about
still makes a poem a surprise!
These things are with us every day
even on beachheads and biers. They
do have meaning. They're strong as rocks.

God Hates Ravens
It's a Connect 4
BAM! !
Launch me to the Caspian
See if you can pick me up
A couple of Aspirin
God supplies the water
God really loves his water
He's really good with water
So bring the God damned aspirin
It's a tool shed
Yeah! !
No in so many words
Who to feed first
The pie man or the mockingbirds
Pair the Bastards up
In their heavenly playpens
Wake me when the rain ends
God hates ravens
But he really loves his water

Where Do Babies Come From? -Mother to Daughter
She turns 11 tomorrow.
and she says to me:
'Do babies come really
from there? '
That finger was much too low;
not my belly
but way below
and I froze-
between the lie
and her need to know
truth.
She,
eyes wide
'do they really come
from your thingie? '
I said
'yes, but...'

I Don't Know Why I Should Try To Write A Poem Now
I don't know why
I should try to write
A poem now-
There will be other times
When the Metaphors
I ordinarily do not have
Flow not easily in me
Like water lava
Like blood- thinned by aspirin-
All I have to do is
Keep reading enough poetry of others
And exotic metaphors
Will come to me
As if I were another person's voice
And nothing in myself
Real as my own.

Head Banger
A banging of one's head observed,
Being done against a brick wall.
Appears to be painful.
Should the one observing,
Empathize with the head banger.
With the supplying of aspirin?
Or should one applaud the wall,
For enduring through the agony sighted...
As the wall does provide one,
Such a public and pathetic display...
To a complete commitment to unacceptance.

Dead Babies
Little Betty ate a pound of aspirin
She got them from the shelf upon the wall
Betty's mommy wasn't there to save her
She didn't hear her little baby call
Dead babies
Can't take care of themselves
Dead babies
Can't take things off the shelf
Well we didn't want you anyway

Much Needed Vacation
No time do I spend,
Being absorbed in your nonsense.
I admit there were times I had been inquisitive.
Curious enough to let you ramble on,
As I allowed my mind to drift.
But of late,
No more time to that do I have to give.
Nor aspirin to take,
To numb a headache you make.
No time do I spend,
Being absorbed in your nonsense.
And being freed of it,
Feels like I've taken a good...
Much needed vacation!

Not For Sale!
black coffee...
a blood pressure pill,
one aspirin, two ibuprofen,
and up to face the day!
what doesnt hurt
often fumbles or stumbles.
set your chin,
and tear down a wall!
truth barks,
and often growls.
what stinks just stinks,
no need to cover!
the work we do
with mechanical souls,
merely feeds the body,
what about the mind?
