Happiness
Verse one:
Yo, its a beautiful day, and everybodys feelin wonderful
The ladies is out, lookin fly, dressed comfortable
I love to wake up, and feel the breeze through my window
Slip on a fatigues, grab a dutch and roll some indo
It be days like these, that make life so much easier
Fish thawin out, guinness stout in the freezer
Walk the block at my leisure (my leisure)
Summertime is like a anesthesia
So many pretty things to please ya
The greenery
Beautiful birds, natural scenery
Or even just a infinite sky
We be forever puffin lah
On the block, or tellin jokes in the ride (ha ha ha)
When the weather be hot, everybody be outside (whut)
Havin fun (aight? ), eatin fresh fruits and vegetables
And good food put me in the mood for a festival
Some say the summer make a woman more sexual (sup, boo)
Its instinct -- thats why my game be right on schedule

Evrything Ive Got
Verse 1
Dont stamp your foot at me,
Its impolite
To stamp your foot at me
Is not quite right.
At mans ingratitude
A woman winks,
But such an attitude just stinks.
Refrain 1
I have eyes for you to give you dirty looks.
I have words that do not come from childrens books
Theres a trick with a knife Im learning to do
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Ive a powerful anesthesia in my fist,
And the perfect wrist to give your neck atwist.
There are hammerlock holds,
Ive mastered a few,
And evrything Ive got belongs to you.
Share for share, share alike,
You get struck each time I strike.

Get These Golden Nets, These Chains, Off Me
Get these golden nets, these chains, off me,
these dreamcatchers, cobwebs, suspension bridges
swaying like sticky spinal cords across the shoreless abyss.
I'm smothering under these pillows of sunset
you keep pushing in my face to soften
the impact of my meteoric heart
trying to induce a new species
out of my own extinction
that might accord me a retroactive purpose
for having lived like a root
in the dirt of their flowering.
More compassion spent on lies
than truths, the sun might come up
in the morning and pour honey
all over its head like bees in the dawn,
but it isn't the same for active volcanoes.
Half the world waiting to receive
what the other half wants to take from them,
via positiva, via negativa, sure

Softly, Softly, Now
Softly, softly, now; here there is no beneath or above, no hell
for miscreant flowers opening for the moon, no ghosts
who can’t find their way back to the grave. No one
is unacceptable in this place where even the dead dig
for the blue bones of heaven, cracking
them open like fortune-cookies
to taste the light gold of the marrow. This is the kingdom
of empty cups waiting to be filled
by the black wine of union that ripened
in the skull-shrines
of a thousand drunken buddhas
begging outside a brothel door
for the same holy candle to show them the way home. People
are seldom grateful for what they don’t know
and thought is only the dog of reality
if you can catch my drift in this back-alley
where I’m dancing with a gust of wind. How lightly
you step off my tongue into your veils and shadows
dropping your masks like petals all over the asphalt
until you can’t be seen. Is that freedom or death; do you

Driving The Same Road
Driving the same road years later without you.
Looking at those things,
the boulder in the fork of the tree
like a giant slingshot
or the head of a baby
coming out backwards
between its mother's legs,
all the endless explanations you had
for how and why things got here
now nothing but voiceless mutes in your absence.
But absence is too kind a word
to intimate the subtler death I feel
drawing its sharper knife across my jugular
like the Sanskrit word for consciousness
as if severance were the compassionate side of vacancy.
There's nothing impaled on the dead trees
except for the occasional empty heron's nest
thrust through the icebound beaver pond
where we used to slow down to spot beavers
but it's still humped by as many lodges as it ever was
