A rich profligate is a lump of earth gilded and a pious dervish is a sweetheart besmeared with earth. The latter is the patched garment of Moses and the former is the bejewelled beard of Pharaoh. Nevertheless good men retain a cheerful countenance in adversity whilst the rich droop their heads even in prosperity.

You are glorious and excellent
In all the earth you reign
You are high and lifted up
Where no mortal can attain

Mighty armies marched against you
You people, Pharaoh tried to keep
They rode with chariots and horses
But they were cast into the deep

Under The Shadow Of Your Wet Love

I am the rose on your bed and the lily of your sweet valley,
And alos like the apple tree in your valley!
So let me sit under the shadow of your wet love with my muse,
Because you have the eye of a dove and your beauty is beyond compare!

Mariam my cousin,

London Holds My Heart

I'd kill to see the lights of London
Out of the windows of my room
Or to gaze upon the streets of Cairo
And farther out all of the pharaohs' tombs
I'd love to see the Eiffel Tower
And the Louvre's pieces of art
But there is only one city I could stay in
For only London holds my heart
To gaze across Scottish meadows
And bask in the light of an Irish moon
To hear the street musicians of Rome
Doling out their classic tunes
I want to fall asleep at sunset
In the snug bed of an Israel inn
And sip the finest of Greek wines
And lay with Arabian silks caressing my skin
How it would be to walk the deserts of Mecca
Or bathe in the Nile river for a few nights

A lonely night in a desert

I am a lone Bedouin and how strange this Nomadic race?
The legend says of Pharaoh but I have never seen them.
I see through my tattered tent the far away red star in altitude
And it must be Aldebaran.
I take out the old lute from my knapsack and pluck the strings.
My ration is poor and I dream of an Oasis nearby and I hear the sad murmur of my companion camel and its boredom.
We sing together the oldest bitter song.

Grandchildren

I look down and see my grandchildren before me. I look down and do not see children.
I look down and see the jewels of heaven before my eyes,
Not stones dug from the deep earth but jewels sent from the lord our God in heaven.
No finer jewels on earth may man find then these that lay before me.
Not heat and pressure from the dirty earth was these jewels made but made
by the God of Abraham his self. No pharaoh of Egypt or king of Europe could have
such a treasure. A treasure guarded by the angels of heaven sent by our lord him self.

Fowl Politics

Sit in your light and sing to me little bird.
Sing of all the things in the world, right and wrong.
Chirp, Chirp, deceit in each sugar-coated word.
A ballad of battle a dangerous song.

I know your intent, you’re more hawk than sparrow.
Anything to win and to hell with the cost.
An elected man more mighty than Pharaoh.
It’s a democracy, but you’re the boss.

A little bird who can make so many die.
You expect me to believe what you say?
Even a child can tell that you lie.

A hawk and sparrow are both fowl, its true,
but so are the donkey and elephant too.

In Life's Red Sea with faith I plant my feet,
And wait the sound of that sustaining word
Which long ago the men of Israel heard,
When Pharaoh's host behind them, fierce and fleet,
Raged on, consuming with revengeful heat.
Why are the barrier waters still unstirred?--
That struggling faith may die of hope deferred?

Best fertile productive land
worth doubles more if
for housing quick profit sold.
