Pretty Paper
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your present to your darlin' from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Oh, Oh pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue.
Crowded streets, busy feet hustle by him
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh
There he sits all alone on the sidewalk
Hoping that you won't pass him by.
Should you stop?
Better not, much to busy
You'd better hurry, my how time does fly
And in the distance the ringing of laughter
And in the midst of the laughter he cries.
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your present to your darlin' from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Oh, Oh pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue.
Oh, Oh pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue...

Ode to Being Five (Children)
I made a paper Valentine
all red and edged with lace.
And on my paper Valentine,
I drew a pretty face.
I painted on two big blue eyes
and then a great big grin
and knew it wouldn't be complete
without a dimpled chin.
I love you, paper valentine,
and just between us two,
I hope someday when I grow up
I'll look as sweet as you.

I write these lines upon a sheet of paper
I write these lines upon a sheet of paper
That someone made from what was once a forest
Without much thought (as I suspect) for nature:
Does this not fill my heart with guilty sorrow?
Or is its lifeblood more akin to water
That runs in rivers under cloud and sunshine?
Why am I so affected by the sunshine?
All that I do - whether I read the paper,
Or, being thirsty, drink a glass of water,
Or walk amid the tall trees of the forest,
If there's no sun, my mind is fill'd with sorrow,
And if it shines, gladness is in my nature.
But gladness is not always in the nature
Of all terrestrial things, whether the sunshine
Dispels from my own mind some part of sorrow
For many men and creatures, as the paper
I read informs me, live within a forest
Of woe, and some have not a dropp of water.

Burnt Paper
it is a cut-out paper
thin
delicate white
sharp
it is my world
apart from yours
i stay away from
rain
put my paper feet
on wood
as you pretend to be
the woman of
my pen
you touch
but what you touch is just

It's that I don't like white paper backgrounds. A woman does not live in front of white paper. She lives on the street, in a motor car, in a hotel room.

It won't make for a quiet life but it will make for an interesting paper vastly more significant because it is doing something only a daily paper can do.

Lost and Ready to Cave In
Poem.com all the words gone
Merrian and Webster
could'nt help a-tall
The words were just walked away
and now I felt a crack
in foundations hall
There was no reason in it's rhyme
A senseless killing
A latter day bosnia
Line by line
word by word
down to the smallest letter
A shudder, another crack
Watch my foundation's back
As black papered coffins
burried beneath smooth headstones
just in ashes deep
in all our fears

You philosophers are lucky men. You write on paper and paper is patient. Unfortunate Empress that I am, I write on the susceptible skins of living beings.

A sensual scribble
I was the scribe who woke up at dawn
Finding a clean sheet of paper
And this glossy sort of ballpoint pen
Having the urge to write
Something sensual
My fingers spread the paper
On this table
Where there is so much disorder
Some paper clips and
Floppy discs scattered
Scotch tapes and mail openers
And some still unopened mails
That I did not mind
Not my priority
I was into something sensual
On this clean sheet of paper
On an urge to write
Grabbed this glossy sort of ballpoint pen
And start scribbling

a poem for Rosie
the castle of paper
that we create from a
sheet of white
bond paper
stands on the brown
table
tall and proud so
they say
but we know Rosie
that this is just plain
creativity
could be a way of
expressing your
self's discontent of the
surroundings
the foul air
the heavy rain that
seems not to stop
the muddy path
to the market and the

Dots
A dot on paper was analyzed
The lawyer viewed such evidence
For all legalities, scrutinized
Then ably wrote his structured defense.
'The dot is proof of serious grime
No doubt there was intrusion
Allow me to pinpoint the morbid crime
That will lead to the prosecution.'
Next came the languid aging preacher,
He searched for erroneous doctrine
Examined the pristine paper
And the corrupting dot therein.
'There is much here spiritually
The white of paper was transgressed,
It is the dot of immorality
And repentance must be addressed.'

Rag paper, containing hemp fiber, is the highest quality and longest lasting paper ever made. It can be torn when wet, but returns to its full strength when dry.

Words on paper
Words on paper
~
Just words on paper
Where a story is told
An emotion revealed
Or a love laid to rest
Where a dream begins
An ambition is spoken
Perhaps a whim of fancy
Takes charge of the pen
To write what is written
Letters forming words
Shapley and beautiful
Expressions of a soul
Or a mind at play
There across the page
Words on paper
Written to have their say

The Unseen Butterfly
Folding the last edge of the paper
he pointed the folds
into the palm of his hand,
closing it in a clockwork swirl
he forms a fist.
Turning to the children,
He spoke…
‘What do you see? ’
‘A hand…
…a fist’, said the other.
Without acknowledgement
He asked, ‘Do you see the butterfly? ’
As if to turn,
and search the skies
The children shook their heads.
Slowly, gently
Unfolding his fingers like petals
He tenderly placed his finger
On the square of paper…
‘Do You see the Butterfly? ’
