Bears in North America

No, not the hulking linebackers from Chicago
but the grizzly wandering its range in Alaska
meeting with a band of brother bears
and traveling to a campground
on the Yellowstone for a confabulation
on the best writers of the century!

They tore up the trees discussing the merits
of Ernest Hemingway and Scott Fitzgerald
leaving piles of scat in the meadows
when the subject of James Joyce
and stream of consciousness came up!

29 What Is Denning?

The helicopter hovered
above the wolf lair
machinegunning
the mammals
from the air
*****

AllCreatures site say:
What is denning?

A helicopter hovers outside a wolf den in Alaska because of Sarah Palin's
scofflaw creation of a loophole in the federal law.banning the
aerial hunting of wolves, moose, bears or their cubs.
14 mother and father wolves were gunned down... landing the helicopter
found 28 cubs and shot each in the head

Panning for Gold on the Fortymile

I spent a summer panning for gold
on the Fortymile River at Tom's place
not far from Chicken
in Alaska

I remember the sunny days
and the hours scratching
in the cold river

The dark waters yielded
little but chicken-feed
specks of ore

separated from river sand
by centrifugal machines
powered by gas

chitty chitty bang bang
and a handful of bright
stuff I culled

The Brown Bear

Into the brown bear was the bullet,
Passing through as if adequate.
It was a Kodiak bear, in Alaska,
Opening too much, clever as a comma,
Frustrating the children of our family
Without the concern for their safety.
Sadly, we circumvented the monster,
Inside the region of the debtor.
We perceive and discern the awkward tree,
This cone-bearing tree too banging and mighty.
We instead deceived the bear, always roaring,
Like a grizzly, but not at all, just defying.

Global Warming

The glaciers are melting,
The Alaskan bears are roaming the streets.
The sea has taken over the mean straits.
The whales and the sharks are devouring
Our children.
Angry penguins are standing in the den.
They are all blaming you and me.
They want our apple pie, our tea and coffee;
They want to take over the universe.
Planet Earth is in trouble, the devils are athirst.
The lions, the tigers, the hyenas, the foxes…
Are chasing presidents, generals and the masses.
Humanity is doomed, they are coming after us.
No place to hide, no shelters for us.
The sea waves are up to our knees.
If we don’t stop this nonsense,
Before we know it, the flies and the flees
Will be sucking our stubborn brains.
It is vitally important that we protect the environment,
So humanity can have a safe and secured tent.

Hidden Dreams

It's awesome
The summer brings perpetual light.
The birds are around all the time
singing their pretty tunes.
All summer through the flowers bloom.
The garden veggies grow huge.
In winter, when it's dark,
there are the Northern Lights
dancing across the sky
in a rainbow of colour;
our sweet delights.
The snow cover is beautiful.
You can relax and enjoy its peacefulness.
The dark of winter doesn't bother me at all
nor does the daylight of summer.
Alaska! Hidden dreams.

Is A Soccer Mom A Loser? ...For Sure! , I Betcha!

A Governor of Alaska running not far...
Tried to fire an ex-brother-in-law who drove a patrol car...

A Vice Presidentual candidate will not really rate....
What will be her status?
Perhaps a losing fate?

She is known as 'The Soccer Mom'...
Too bad for all Republicans she'll be the ultimate bomb.

I do not believe that she can win...
She abuses her power as like the ultimate-dirty sin.

Will she come away from the elections without a scratch or bruise?
Too bad for her, you betcha! ,
She'll assuredly lose.

Ive Done It Again

I was on the first ship to peru,
Charted all the courses like all sailors do,
First to cross the [? ] in [? ],
Oversea in wetbacks for good californian wine.
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again,
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again.
I was there when jan and liford sang,
First to feel the cold alaskan white man,
First to take a trip on lsd,
First to vote for roosevelt back in 33.
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again,
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again.
Yes Ive seen it, yes Ive seen it,
And if your feeling great I feel it.
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again,
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again.
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again,
And Ive done it again, done it again, done it again.

Wolf Song

Not the night call for his mate
Nor the full moon instinct howl
This wolf song sings forlorn fate
A lonesome breed on singular prowl

Alone in their wild forest home
Guardians of woodland mystery
High upon timbered mountain tops
They roam deep shadows ranging free

Only the whisper of their silent paw prints
Swift across valley and meadow home
Ancient witness to continental journey
Wildlife pilgrims under starry dome

Darklight Monarchs in silken fur
Royal sanction of Red, Grey and White
World renown majestic and noble
From Alaska to Arabia an awesome sight

Hardly I count my faded previous births

Once in Alaska I caught fish and lived in my Igloo
Unfortunately not married till I die.
When Christopher Columbus found America
I was a Turtle in the Pacific Ocean.
I served as a butler to Duke of Edinburgh in the Victorian era.
During the World War (II) I was the Alsatian pet dog to Adolf Hitler.
Now I live in America with my singsong beloved and two old suitcases that full of bygone unlimited hopes.
Sometimes in my colored dreams I see turtles, Igloos, dogs and I play baseball with Hitler, Columbus and Duke of Edinburgh.

*** Many happy returns of the day to Independent America!

Tavern inTalkeetna

I remember it now as a hole in the wall
though at the time I stopped there
for directions to Denali

It seemed like authentic frontier
grizzled trappers and prospectors
at the circular bar

The drinks were never on the house
better than working the river
for gold its owner said

A city chap from Seattle he was
splindly and gray-faced
in red flannel shirt

He perched on a stool near the register
and chatted on about his life
as an entrepreneur

Greedy Eagles

Even the eagles' greed have killed them!
Can you believe?
Bald eagles wet and can not fly?
Gorging themselves over wasted fish to die!
And when the temperatures dipped,
Into freezing 'teens'...
At least nineteen of fifty greedy eagles,
Were frozen wet and had met their deaths.

And 'they' are the symbols of this land!
Representing...
Just how far,
A land where greed and mankind,
Have gotten out of hand!
To feast and die,
Feeding greed...
That does not guarantee or provide survival!
Not their own,
It seems.

Velvety Return

Like a dung beetle you were guarding
the tunnel, I will not let the ball roll away,

a grain of ache in my tooth. Why you had
to go, on cathartic release of mutual trust?

A stone in the heart, ice on the wings,
there will be a terrible crash today.

He died by his own hands, failing to reach
the ceiling of solid pain, trekking across

the memories in deep waters. The born depression
had the bride of moon without flesh, beyond the gaze.

A hand holds the sunlight reaching your eyes.
You may swim with fish in mid stream of death.

* On the death of Nicholas Hughes, son of Sylvia Plath in Alaska on 16th March 09.

Pimp Homeo (Insert)

{woman} Pimp Homeo, Pimp Homeo...
{Cube} Hey, Julie-ho!
{Woman}I am but $300 short, thy Pimp. First know my ass is tired, thy
Pimp Homeo.
Be this hour, I have done weeping. Thy have poppeth my
cootchie 'til I can't poppeth
No more!
{Cube} Oh, tis! Thy have a reason to smack a cramp in that ass.
{Woman}Have patience, Pimp Homeo, have patience! Homeo, I have a very
vuluptuous vagina,
and titties teetering on timelessness. And a ass the size
of Alaska.
{Cube} Well, bitch, thy get my money.

How the wise Master's mesmerized World?

In Colombo heating
And cost of living flies high
Like a sky rocket
But they play cricket outdoor.
A poor man bowls to a well to do batsman
And he hits the ball that goes over the boundary line.
Skinny umpire raises hardly his rickety both hands to the sky
And marked as six for the batsman!
In Alaska freezing, children play snow ball on mountain peaks
And the diabetic father who runs to the world's edge
And he pees, the longest frozen sugar rod and it goes to the Record book!
In middle East boiling, Centigrade hundred or Fahrenheit two hundred and twelve it seems.
A brother kills his own brother for Democracy
And the tyrant King hides in a Harem
And play chess with concubines
That goes to the modern civilization!

Found Poem

after information received in The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 4 v 86

The population center of the USA
Has shifted to Potosi, in Missouri.

The calculation employed by authorities
In arriving at this dislocation assumes

That the country is a geometric plane,
Perfectly flat, and that every citizen,

Including those in Alaska and Hawaii
And the District of Columbia, weighs the same;

So that, given these simple presuppositions,
The entire bulk and spread of all the people

Should theoretically balance on the point
Of a needle under Potosi in Missouri

Chicken Feed on the Fortymile

I spent one summer on the Fortymile
not far from Chicken in Alaska

dredging with outboard motor
rigged to a device that sucked up
sand and dirt from river bottom

a coffee can of that summer
work sits on a shelf in the garage

to separate particles of gold
from black sand and soil
requires centrifugal force
which would yield chicken feed
small return for huge expense

poets and prospectors alike
scratch in the soil for simile
and metaphor but often
recover bits and pieces

The wooing of the southland

(ALASKAN BALLAD)

The Northland reared his hoary head
And spied the Southland leagues away--
"Fairest of all fair brides," he said,
"Be thou my bride, I pray!"

Whereat the Southland laughed and cried:
"I'll bide beside my native sea,
And I shall never be thy bride
Till thou com'st wooing me!"

The Northland's heart was a heart of ice,
A diamond glacier, mountain high--
Oh, love is sweet at any price,
As well know you and I!

So gayly the Northland took his heart
And cast it in the wailing sea--
"Go, thou, with all thy cunning art,
