Death of My Childhood Place

I miss the place so much
where I could climb trees
ate star apples and green mangoes
from fruit trees near our house

bath in the river
made a raft
out from banana or bamboo trunk
go boating with my brother
and enjoyed swimming in the river

Where we made a makeshift dam
got some catfish
or played with the tadpoles
and shooed away the frogs

and on rainy day
played with my childhood friend
creating pots and anything from the mud
forming clay vases and figurines

It was my thirteenth year

It was my thirteenth year
and we fished with our friend
from Rhodesia
and he taught us
to make our own sinkers
from lead.

Three boys casting

and watching the policeman

or give a small pull

When I was a child

When I was a child
I saw fireflies,

A Southern Indiana Christmas

It’s Merry Christmas time in Southern Indiana
The farmers have picked all the beans and corn
Please, please will you come visit me Santa?
Our tree is up and lights and decorations do adorn

Our family is blessed with God’s good grace
We have a red tractor and a barn with a silo
Dad likes his old Farmall but I want a Case
So St. Nick, please give me a jolly “ho ho ho”

I love to eat barbeque and catfish, it’s true

Was Kermit a Vegen?

Chasity Erbaugh has had a sight to be seen.
She had purchased frozen green beans at the Wal-Mart in Tyler, Texas.
A Great Value Brand, by name, but appeared to be a Surely Shock Brand,
When she brought it home.
After microwaving the frozen green beans to feed her children,
She noticed peculiar that didn’t look like bean,
Chasity came across a legless frog that was green.
Catfish and frog legs are very popular in local restaurants around here,
And China too!
Maybe the green beans and the processing of frog legs were at the same location?
Anyway, was this frog related to Kermit? Was he a vegen?
Chasity brought this up to the management of her local Wal-Mart,
They, in turn, delightfully handed a $1.00 coupon off her next bag of frozen green beans.
How thoughtful is that?
How so disgusting?
So Wal-Mart,
The company is thinking about getting into the marriage wedding and reception business,
After which, the couple will have kids to be poisoned by the lead content in toys,
Manufactured in China,
Most likely the couple will have pet dog, which can poisoned by the dog food,
