Theodora Onken about winter

Chill

A shining coil of wind
Carried away the last leaves
Black Birds final calling
Upon Winters sleeves
Snowflakes slide
Laying comforters of white
Snow Angels rejoice
At rest come the night
Morning unbuttons
To a glassy grey glaze
Winters come calling
Through frost misted haze

White Winter Wonderland

Oh, these white winter walks exhilarate
As does the crisp frost tipped air
Blown 'cross the mountain tops and vales
Light as a butterfly-snow flakes so fair;
'Tis the whitest of white times
Heralding in all the holidays best
Celebration 'cross the countryside and nearby vales
Pass the most perilous of slippery road test;
Out upon the sod-a snowman or two
With building of snowcastles supreme
Oh, those white winter walks encite exuberance
Hence giving credence to my white winter dream;
As glorious winter makes her snowy bed
And the invigorating air chills to the bone
I am ever thankfu for this white winter world
And for all of the past winters i have known;

Glorious Winter

Come, oh most glorious Winter
Be quick to lay your silence down
Blanket us with your white coverlet
And i will wear my Green Christmas gown...
We will revel in your snowflakes-
Delight in a skate upon your iced over pond
Build forts and ramparts with much glee
Form a White Winter Bond...;
Come, oh most glorious Winter
We welcome your haunting White Noise...
All your white lanes all aglitter
Trees branches weighted-with White Winter Poise;
All agleaming and crisp making...
Comes thru the Decembers quick air
Completely dressed up in your Winter White
Oh, most Glorious White Winter, so fair!

The Faces Of Winter~

Anguish put on it's Winter face-
It's icy story embroidered into the snow
A brocade of cold that chilled to ones bone
A compassionless season where the sorrow just grows;
Falling through it's window pane of time...
Anguish laid down it's blanket of white
No sleet-only the harsh sting of cold
You know-that cutting winter bite?
You'd swear that it was slicing into you...
Through the darkest of the skies Winter grey-
Anguish put on it's Winter face
And brought a blizzard of sheer despair my way! ;

Skating On Thin Ice

The frozen water tears me down-

For i am upon thin ice...

Frazzled nerves into frightening curves-

Half-split me apart not once but twice;

The Winter winds they toyed with me-

As i slid on the rhythmic freeze...

Too soon the melt of ice 'twas felt-

Broken and lost at all cost in Winter breeze;

Cut cold and bleeding fast, i am-

Winter Rose

Outcast of the Winter wind
A Rose fights for life and lingers on
But a bitter chill-has cast it's fill
And most of the gardens Roses are gone;
But there 'tis one that remains
With a spirit-fighting to the very end
A Rose amongst the snows of time
Embraces the warm of love you send;
So, if you should find yourself missing me
Just look out at the Garden Of Stone
And in the chill of a Winters unforgiving fill
A single Rose stands all alone;
That would be me-waiting still
For the spirit of your warm aura e'er true
Fighting this iced chill-but with a mighty will
This single Rose 'tis waiting for you;

Broken Hearted Twice

The years are weighing me down most beloved
For i am but a shipwreck of a woman, my dear
Clinging to mid-lifes glorified Golden
Yet letting go of agony's bitter tears;
Looking through the windowpane of our life
Yellow fields-they oft' turn to pale green
Whispers from the winds of sweet surrender
Yet mistakes refuse to embellish my dreams;
Oh, oh, my most beloved
Am i now invisible to thine eye?
Do the Angels fear to tread near to me?
Or 'tis our re-union perhaps nigh?
Spheres of half-thought-half-spoken love words
Changed the course of Winters Arrows Of Ice
Tomorrow, oh tomorrow-what shall it bring-my darling?
In loving you-I am broken hearted...twice;

Changes

Can you hear it calling in the wind?
Winters chilling sigh?
Howling brisk icy waves
Over freezing days she cries;
Winter will soon leave her fingerprints
Everywhere in the snow
White noise will loom in the atmosphere
It's eerie silence shall grow;
Comes the world at a standstill
Perilous roads-difficult to drive
Sparrows bearing the icy lace
With the thaw they will survive! ;
Tree branches weighted heavy
With many a bough to break
It's a white frosted Mother Earth
Frozen pond-once a lake;
Resting or in mourning -for losses
Repose or utter despair...
Longing for the energy of the Springtide
And the arrival of warmer April air;

Arrival

The first flush of Spring arrives
Tinted with fuchsia infection
Opening to fresh new attitudes
Where, as a gem, lily white brillances shines
Leaving long long behind
The chill of all the misguided shadows
Of Winters broken disfigured leaves
Where the white noise deafened
The warm rains rush the needful Earth
Given the liberty to quench its buds
Bringing forth the gorgeous perfumed air
That is so positive-that it just has to be Spring

Remembering November

I do remember November...
It's cool, sharp call,
The cool breeze had all but disappeared,
But the wind, it came, upon us all.

Bundled up with our ascots...
Leather gloves for our hands,
Long woolen leggings to keep them warm,
And fur lined suede boots, on which to stand.

A flurry or two is cast for the morrow...
With winds gusting, to perhaps thirty-five,
Wind chill factor of fifteen,
With a temperature, thatr could freeze a cows hide.

Ice cicle formations begin to dangle...
Hanging as decorations from midnight eaves,
The roof believes that they are ornaments,
For at christmas time, they are well received.

Shattered

It was in the virgin snow
Of many a winter's past
Where memory grew some wings
It was in the form of Snow Angels**
And the winter airs crisp sting
It was a total recall of sorts
Of a broken friendships shards
It cut like glass, as it came to pass
But the snow still covers the yard
It never melted from an apology
As none ever came to pass
And so the snow remains
Along with the pain
And the shards are still sharp as glass

Song Of Spring

With a song of Spring in my heart
I embrace this day of Spring
The warmth replacing the Winters chill
And my dream that gives rise to wings;
Standing in the doorway of: New Beginnings
An ocean of possibilities await
Dazzled by the genius of Masters
I give a big welcome to Fate;
Breathing in the blossoms pleasant fragrance
A fountain of bliss in Gardens new
Loving the magic touch of Butterfly kisses
And the melodies of SongBirds in view;
With a song of Spring in my heart
I continue to embrace this day
Ever grateful for the blue skies and sun
For the flowers and hope of sweet May! ;

SpringUp

T'was quite quaint you see-
The way the Sun warmed the trees-
Which had chattered endlessly-
From an unforgiving Northern freeze;

All of the warm and cozy...
Gave way to a most joyous Dawn...
Why even the Garden embraced the Sun-
And the blades of grass grew green upon the lawn;

The Tulips began to rise through the sod...
Along with the Daffodils and their Yellow blaze-
All embracing the longed for warmth...
Of the Sunshines new Spring days;

T'was quite quaint really, you see-
The way the Sun warmed the trees...
Which had chattered almost endlessly-
Throughout the Winters most unforgiving freeze;

A Seasons Lessons

Through pastel winds of evermore
I blaze my way
Upward and onward
Climbing impossible mountains of chagrin
Crossing streams of past tears shed
Making my way
Across the borders of yesterday
Where heartache was my only friend
Now into the new frontiers of this day
Where gold and russet embrace the ground
And rustle in a richer hued wind
Left behind the Sring pastels
And the youth of Summer times broken dreams

Fall breaks herself wide open-for me
Bonfires of new desires burn hopeful
Hopes raised to the Firmaments abode
Where restless Souls watch and wait
For tomorrow and the cold chill
Of the dark winds of Winters nevermore

Proceed With Caution

Tangerine coloured lights shine only
As they entertain cameras to a visual scene...
Gone are the skyscraper trees and their nimble branches
Of a most free flowing evergreen...
An angry Winter wind 'tis blowing--
Slicing the easy access warmth of Summers-once sure...
Grey skies now overpower Augusts- once brillance
While the sod 'tis covered in Winter White Pure?
The world has become very quiet...
Resolved by their own images in winds stinging brisk-
'Proceed with caution' Warns: The Tangerine Lights Of Honesty
Enter-O'-Ye uninvited-at YOUR Own Risk!

Stone Garden

In this still
Winter chill
Upon this sharp
Dewy morn
Beyond the
Broken stone
Path
And the Red
Rose Thorn
Shadows are
Dancing
Still moonlight
'Neath an arched
Vine clad door
I have been
Lying here much
As a cold stone
Upon the winter
Floor
All of this time

Maybe i could...

Summer sun conjures up memories of youth
And an equation of two like minds
Fractions of loving moments spent
Warm embraces defined;
Maybe i could consider you...
If the Spring of youth could return
If my years allowed new blossomings
If our long ago Summers could again burn;
But we have gone long past those days
Where deluges of passionate hours ruled
We've sailed through the burnished of Autumns
And our Winter 'tis no fool;
But the sun still conjures up memories
Even though the air, too soon, turns to ice
Remembrance 'tis forever Golden
It warms on these chilly Winter nights;

Autumn (A Theme)

...In the schematics of the theme
Unaltered vibrant rays
...Cast their gilded luminescence
Upon late September Days
...Days returned to the Solid Gold
Of the Amber-Orange leaves
...And the branches brittle limbs
As they Fall from their trees
...An Apple Orchard is going bald
Settling upon distant frosty morns
...Altering the once warm-mist-dew
While snapping the Wild Rose Thorns
...It is the theme of Autumn
In a quiet repose, preparing for her rest
...For Her long winter nap
In a month and a half, at best
...Tis the slumber of hibernation
When trees, barren found
...Misted with the Ice Chip Granules
From Winter's Snow Drift Mounds

~Cold

! Lost raindropps in the snow
Covered in ice cold regret
Never-ever to be found
In the chill of Winter-Set
Frozen are the rainbows
Made of colour spectrum lights
Covered up by dancing
Snowflakes
Of the blanket white-covered night

To Be Or Not To Be? (You Came, You Saw, You Conquered?) ?)

Near Winter solitude exudes reflections
Through the windows of time, i peer
Remembering the Sparrows Song
It is their sweet melody i hear;
Tomorrow is yet a question mark
Somewhere is still just a dream
Forgotten are all past day of days
And their deepest darkest scheme's;
Truths are all Hale and hearty-Today
As the Tom turkey roasting still
Hungering for it's stuffing of sage
Hoping that we get our Fill;
Life is just a tapestry-my friend
Of misfortune, ill intent and surprise
Of happiness, love and gratitude
Of Time and how it flies;
Make Today the answer: 'To All'
At last put to rest all of the Night
Cut the ill Will for you've had your fill
Embrace this, the First Day, of new found Light;
