Theodora Onken about height

Life & Death

The flower grew tall to the sky--
Touching its soft baby blue-
A graceful spiral of delightful fragrance-
A floral design blossoming anew--
So tall-so tall-it has grown--
Brillant blazing bloom--
Frangrance so awe inspiring---
Alas, 'tis gone too soon-!
Its petals began withering--
Its stem 'tis clearly dying---
Calls from the heavens blue---
Sorrows as the gardens crying-----
Too soon gone-flower--
Too soon a part of the sodded earth---
Too soon your life has ended--
Too soon from your day of birth--

Climb

The mountains n'er seemed so tall...
As in this most laborous climb divine---
'Twas as if we were reaching for the pinnacle of Paradise...
Thus, claiming these towering peaks as mine;

Surely Heaven 'tis this blissful...
Where the joy surpasses any sort of pain---
Where sorrow 'tis a long forgotten emotion---
Wrapped in comforters of Loves sweet refrain;

Higher, ever higher we do ascend...
To touch the Peaks of Evermore...
Once just two lonely people in search of happiness---
Now, as one, together walking through Heavens door;

Joy and freedom have adorned us-beloved...
Upon these streets all paved in Gold--
Forever, atop, the world together...
With Eternal life-never ever to grow old;

Sated

It was in the afterglow--
You know-that semi-surreal flow...
That breezes along the fingers of sweet ecstacy...
That rises in waves of love that grows;

That one perfect moment-so powerful...
That sacred union of personal bliss...
Reaching its absolute height-it spires even higher...
At the very moment of our first kiss;

One kiss then leads to many-many others...
Multiple kisses then lead to heavenly caress...
At last the communion of our coming together...
Reaching our afterglow-Feeling so very blessed;

Snared

I watched your coy brown eyes ogle...
They lingered at the bar-
A Lady dressed to high heaven-
Was flashing her blue eyes like stars;

You were totally taken in...
As if in some sort of trance-
She had you at your first glance-
Born: 'A cakewalk to romance';

Her long legs were so inviting...
Her smile ravished your mind...
A tall drink of Scotch dressed in red-
Roped you in with ties that forever bind;

Road Trip in Spring

Rolling Green Pastoral land
For as far as the eye
Can see
The lush verdant Oak and Elm
Outshine the other tree's

Rounded bush-lined lanes of
Concrete
As above we look to the aside Dale
Up-down-over and around
Glimpses of many a country trail

And traveling down Ranger Hill
From up above so very high
Brings more lush green beauty
That sparkles pure brillance
Into one's eyes

Oh what a grand canvas 'tis this
Our higher power has created for we

Aesthetically Atheist?

You carry yourself so well--
Broad shoulders of almost steel---
Standing tall through it all...
But with a heart that is unable to feel! ;

I often wonder what it is like--
To go through life nearly numb...
To be so apathetic and indifferent...
But with high intelligence-certainly not dumb;

Life in the deep freeze: 'of could care less'--
The robotic movements that carry your day...
A writer, an artist, a Bohemian...
With very clever steps in the games that you play;

Oh, those that you do raise up on a pedestal...
Are chilly, unique and oft' a bit odd---
But perhaps there is a reason for your choice of seasons!
Is it that they also-do not believe in Our God? ;

The Chanteuse

The chanteuse chased melodies-
Her voice rubbed elbows -
With a guitar with broken frets-
In-sync with the Clubs Bass-
She sang-
She sang to the guitar-
Raising her voice to higher notes-
Of Life:
Lived-
Long-
Loudly she resonated-
Lyrically harmonic-
Listening for an off key-
Lending an ear to-
Lungs in full breath-A
Libretto in the making...

Amherst Spring Day

Spring whispers float
Upon a faint delicate breeze
Carrying with it the scent
Of Lavender through Oak tree's

The bay window 'tis open a wee crack
Enough for gentle noises
Of Spring
To echo back

I hear the rat-a-tat of the squirrel
Munching upon his pecan
And the scissor tail bird talking
Welcoming in the new dawn

The Mockingbird's melody
Carrying it's own sweet tune
Such a brillant showcase of
The Springtime at high noon

~...In Days Of Yore~

A different sort of glimmer
'Tis shed in Spring time days
Along the red rose gardened path
Where youth and love once stayed

The Light shed 'twas much brighter
The air fresh with a rose kissed mist
The arms of my cherished lover
Brought us together with eternal kiss

But those days they are gone forever
Aging dreams of a rose coloured lane
When my youth took me to higher altitudes
And kept at bay any shred of pain

Twister

Blazing 'cross the vales most serene
Came winds of disproportionate means
They clamoured and hammered the scene
With destructive madness ever so keen
Gale force winds pushed ever on
Twisting in conical circles ever so strong
Devastating the vales vast throng
How could Mother Nature do such a wrong?
Bringing forth a question for all to ask
'Tis it Mother Natures atmospheric task?
Or 'tis it a Higher Powers most rightous wrath?
Or a hidden monster hidden behind serenitys mask?

CareFree~

Come dance me into silly-
Perhaps, a preposterous interlude...
Maybe, even a Devil-May Care attitude
Or a Reckless Abandon altitude;
Fly me to higher elevations -
To the spire of the mount
Where air is lighter than the ether
Where scruples & character don't count;
Let us become just a vapor...
Translucent souls of light, entwined
Dance me into joyful & gleeful
Embrace me with: KIND;
Giggle me into near rediculous-
Numb my worries of this day...
Two-step me into utterly delerious
Turn my December into a full bloom of May;

~Rustic Winter~

Mountains high
Chilled to the bone
Evergreens sigh
Shivering tones
The cold-is a dance
Filled with rustic ambience
With survivors brave stance
Eclectic deep woods and
Deep woods romance
It's just little ole me
And my wise old muse
Out in the cabin
Of most majestic of views'
Snow capped mountains
Delight to the eye
Building a Promethus fire
From high in the sky
Warming up winter cabin
Of cold
Beckoning in all brand new

Resuscitation

I commiserate with empathetic attitude
With platitudes of yesterday
Accented with caomparison and forgiveness
That i have sprinkled along the way
For in this path called My Life
A single flower i have been
Once blaming all of the weeds of this world
For the pestulence of sin
I have all but completely wilted
From the suns sizzling rays-burned
But somehow i was salvaged and to the sod returned
New chances i've been given
By the wonders of the Universes higher power
A most enlightening and forgiving Spirit
Now back to the sod-A full blooming flower

Between

...In between the Dawn of Morn,
........And the blanketing of Night,
...Is the day, full of visuals -
......Graced with God's, colour filled delights!

......We have the Graceful Rise and fall,
....Of many a Mountain Range,
......And the circling of the Globe,
........With the Oceans, And other Tidal Change!

...The Tall and Regal Evergreens -
.....DogWood to Mighty Oak -
.........Roses abd Daffodils, abloom,
........In refreshing, Spring Rains, they soak!

...We have, the Regal Cardinal -
......The Humble Sparrow and Blue Jay -
........The Monarch Butterfly and Honey Bee -
.........So much beauty, they fill the day!

Esteem

Although it is 2010 and not the 60's--
You have definately caught my eye...
Took me back to the: Crystals from Brooklyn--
And songs of happy days gone by;

Seems i am reading you...
And-wow-you sometimes read me...!
The latter is a great compliment---
Of the highest degree! ;

It seems that whatever your subject matter...
I almost always totally agree...
Given that we grew up in the same era...
This fact does not surprise me;

This week you wrote of an end of an Era In Publishing...
I read you-reread you and know that it is no doubt true--
Sadly, i put my hands to my keyboard (in vain?)
Typing up a manuscript that is long overdo;

Orpheus Magic Poetic Music

Orphus 'twas playing
His most magical tune
While Greek soldiers
Fought under blue moon

Tyrants and despots
Bent towards their evil whims
Undaunting acrimony
Their foul mouths spin

But in the distance
Near the Aegean Sea
Orpheus's music
Has inticed little me

The Oracle announced him
'He's magic' The oracle bemused
Poetry came to me
I so very enthused

The Flower

She's a standout in a ground full of weeds...
Tall-lithe stem-ever so green-
Dew covered leaves glisten in between-
A brillant blossom ablaze in this Pastoral scene;

A beauty so elegant-so very rare--
Filling the landscape that once was so bare...
With colours and perfumed aromas so very fair...
If you look very closely-They're simply everywhere;

Planted in the sod by Gods own hand--
For He 'tis the Creator of this green-natured land...
Such a Regal Beauty in the Garden-she stands--
He's given us this Flower-so very grand;

Crank

You enter people uninvited and without permission
Sneaking yourself on in
Through laced water supplies
Oh, all the places you've been;
The anger and agitation are nothing
For with you it is much-much worse
Violence to ones internal organs
Are in dire need of a doctor and nurse;
You work so insidiously in the brain
Upon it's nerve center you just thrive
Put up a poster for you in the Doctors lab
In giving my sample, i added: Wanted Dead Or Alive! ! ! ~

~Spring Cleaning~

Shaking out dirty rugs
That cover the earth eaten floor
Dusting the cathedral beams
That reach for heaven's door
Cant quite get it all
Fevered pitch to faraway heights
Tall ceilings in my den pretend
The dust has misted in flight
Shine upon the tables glaze
Clean reflections bent
Cleaning-clearing and polishing
Spotless-time- well spent
Carpeting link that floats the sky
Vacuum packed it twice
Spot remove-the black eyed groove
That dirties this carpetless prize
Spring cleaning on into June
With bleached out whale bones
Hanging from yonder oak paneling
Sparkling clean crystal gold tones!

Trial By Water

Decisions are an absolute must--
On this day of the third degree...!
Questions are mounting higher-
Arrousing a turmoil inside of me;

The tempest has tossed itself...
Into a very angry deep...
Leaving very little room for solution--
Or hopes of answers to keep;

Ravaged and torn in circles of mystery...
The waves-they crash upon my shore...
Enigmas of yesterdays storms-still unsolved-
Raging on behind Seasides Blue Door;

Coming to terms with this travesty...!
And caught up in the tides ebb and flow...
Its like walking a tightrope of: 'Perhaps or Maybes'--
While it continues-like a cancer to wildly grow;
