This Could Be The Start Of Something Big

Youre walkin along the street, or youre at a party,
Or else youre alone and then you suddenly dig,
Youre looking in someones eyes, you suddenly realize
That this could be the start of something big.
Youre lunching at twenty-one and watchin your diet,
Declining a charlotte russe, accepting a fig,
When out of a clear blue sky, its suddenly gal and guy,
And this could be the start of something big.
Theres no controlling the unrolling of your fate, my friend,
Who knows whats written in the magic book.
But when a lover you discover at the gate my friend,
Invite her in without a second look.
Youre up in an aeroplane or dining at sardis,
Or lying at malibu alone on the sand,
You suddenly hear a bell, and right away you can tell
That this could be the start of something grand.
This could be the start of something very big,
Why dont you play your part?
Please give your heart to me....and see.
This could be the start of something wonderful,

The River Flows

The river flows quiet and swift
It twists and turns as the waters drift
It branches and breaks—its fingers entwine
It grows and grows—snakes like a vine.

The river with the soft scent of a calm day
With the smell of clean—hanging—still—in the grey
And sweetness carried on the breath of morning
It caresses the river—the waters flowing.

The river—crystalline from winter melt
And sweet with the summer soon felt
It tastes of springtime—the season between
And flows the river—so blue and clean.

The river—its lazy trickle of water
The musical rhythm—the ocean’s daughter
It whispers and murmurs—a song of its own
Playing over and over—in continuous drone.

He Sang those Songs Without Words

When they brought him to the Hospital
He was listed as John Doe.
He would have liked the irony-
as Harry Chapin fans well know..

His hair was like a lion’s mane
His face both kind and strong
Though doctor’s tried and nurses cried
Harry had sung his last song.

Like Wednesdays’ child with far to go,
He’d been on the road that day.
He was scheduled for a concert
For which he’d take no pay.

He sang songs for the suppers
of the poor and the deprived.
He may not have been “Religious”
-but he lived life sanctified-

If I Could Divide the Smell of Flowers

If I could divide the smell of flowers
I’d send some to the falsely charged
Locked in prison cells
Send some to the lonely seniors
Trapped in apartment hells
Send some to the weary miners
Sweating beneath the ground
Send some to the invisible people
Hauling our garbage ‘round

Some answers in life are so easy
Like zero plus zero is none
But how do we divide the smell of flowers
So their fragrance is shared by everyone?

If I could divide the smell of flowers
I’d pass some to the frightened animals
Caged against their wills
Pass some to the dying birds
Choking on oil spills

Tired Groove

I relate to your philosophies.
There is not need to rehash them.
Not with me.
I'd like to get beyond these acquisitions.
Renew our positions and sing new tunes.
With refreshed rhythms...
And adventures to meet and greet.

I relate to your philosophies.
We have been sharing them all our lives.
How many times do we have to identify,
The world is round.
Or another dissatisfaction with life we have found.

There is something about the unknown I appreciate.
That makes me more aware of who I am.
But to eat and regurgitate the same thing fed...
Does not expand my understanding.
Or qualifies me to make demands.

Love As A Work Of Art

A work of art in which far more than just part
of the work, its feeling, can be all
it is composed of is far more than merest art:
it is the love in which all lovers fall.

The 12/30/10 WSJ listed the New Year resolutions of some major cultural figures. Olafur Eliasson, a Danish artist, best known in the U.S. for erecting man-made 'Waterfalls' around New York, said:

One of my goals for the year is to create a work of art that only consists of a feeling. I'm trying to work out how to get at that, how to define it as a work of art. There are obviously many feelings, but the one I'd like to create is the feeling of community. Highly abstract, I know.
I bought this solar-powered airplane, but right now it's all in pieces in a garage. Before I got it, it flew, but I took it apart so I could see if I could also turn it into a work of art. But aesthetics and aerodynamics didn't work out so well with me, and now it won't fly. So if the engineers can help put it back together, my goal is to fly it from Berlin to London this summer.

One morning

one morning it will come that i may have a
wagon of carpentry tools and let my friends
build houses for our neighbor, who just live
in shanty shelter

one morning i may have lots of books and
pens, for i may have a library in our barrio,
so that those little kids can learn and can
have research as other do

one morning those sky be filled with
confetti, reaching everybody hand, for
a dream of graduate be in the air; as
other are send to school, with confident
of financially free

one morning i may see, that every food
in the table be tasted and beautiful dresses
be wear by every child, living no pain in
the stomach that is hungry, closing their eye

Ode to Cindy

Cindy was 15
when she
decided
to run away
to Texas.

Auburn hair,
fresh-faced,
freckled complexion.

Vibrant and alive.
A raspy, sexy voice.
A trusting, sweet,
kind smile.

Cindy was a
beautiful
youthful girl,
inside and out.

Spin It On

(this is it)
Spin it on, dont stop. take it back to the top.
cos I gotwhole lotta love for you
I wanna spin it on. spin it on!
Off to the flicks with the piddle in her nicks, to the fair with her hair in curlers.
Their cousins didnt get all down to the pleasure dome
Their cousins didnt send their night in an aircraft hanger.
Memories . . .!
Spin it on, dont stop. take it back to the top.
cos I got whole lotta love for you
Thats why I wanna spin it on. spin it on! spin it on!
Spin it on!
Spin it on, dont stop. take it back to the top
cos I got whole lotta love for you
Thats why I wanna spin it on. spin it on!
Off to the fields with a missionarys zeal for the life of the wife of the farmer
Their cousins didnt get all down to the billiard hall
Their cousins didnt spend their time on a pinball table.
Memories . . .!
Spin it on, dont stop. take it back to the top

Farkash II

Cincinnati is the land of my peace! !
Love fever and the muse of joy;
The new age, to save a life, to save my life, to save your life.

Keep it up! Keep it moving, freeze, breeze;
Lead, head, dread!
Back-shot, steppers, bread, mead, read, dynamite! !

Version, roots, position, concussion, backup;
The African king! The African queen!
Style, cover, remix, edition, pull up, warm up, missing you;
Soul street, banner, the muse of peace, joy ans love.

To Farkash my friend,
Of your love, of my love, modern;
One, tone, gone!
One step ahead, one step beyond, of the traditions in the archives;
Of the Professor and of this poetry!
But, keep it real as, bone, hone, prone! !

God Bestowed Information (part five of Certain Knowledge Know)

Money never really mattered
he made it, spent it,
over a long principled life; that
in itself was enough.

Money was just a simple tool
to procure, life’s necessities,
to be used wisely skillfully,
as were all tools; of life’s trade.

It was to be used, that was all,
unlike others, his money he used;
it did not use him, rule over him,
control his actions, control his life.

But the God bestowed information
contained in his astute judicious brain;
of more lasting value, than development,
of a super-sonic, combat attack aircraft.

Homeward Bound

I want to sit at home in my rockin chair
I dont want to travel the world
As far as Im concerned Ive had my share
But times more precious than gold
I dont wanna see another airplane seat
Or another hotel room
The home life to me seems really neat
I just wanna unpack for good
Buy me a ticket homeward bound (homeward bound)
Buy me a ticket homeward bound (oh homeward bound
Well it all seems the same when youve done it before
Theres no difference in the style
Theres no end insight or my own front door
Ill be a stay at home for awhile
So Ill have another drink and a cigarette
Just to console myself some how
Its not too bad if you can forget
Ive just got to find a way somehow
Buy me a ticket homeward bound (homeward bound)
Buy me a ticket homeward bound (oh homeward bound

A Tribute to September,11 2001

Dawn breaks over the horizon,
the first rays of sunshine
start to warm the air
and brighten the city.

It is a clear blue sky this morning,
it is just perfect.
Everyone buzzes around, ready
to start their morning.

Nothing at all seems to
be wrong or could ruin this day.
No one is aware of the
immanent danger they are in.

New Yorkers rushing to do
all they need to,
not taking a moment to
stop and see the world.

In The Eye Of The Beholder

I hide from lives storm in a dale of incognito, gone is my name,
my gravestone will be free of a name and time of casting anchor.
Write I was a seaman cast ashore by a storm and could not return,
walking on the shore listen to the siren’s call and fond silence.
And perhaps a man who has lost everything in life is walking his
dog, picks up a shell and listen to eternities soothing drone.
And the dog which soul is transient and wander from generation
to the next will wag its tail in tender memory of your life.
Yet forever to its present owner which it knows is mortal and will
end up as a memory by Canis familiars not yet to be born.
But as long as dogs, that have thrown in their lot with man, roam
and survive, we shall be there as a testament to eternity.
When you look into a dog’s eyes you’ll see a mirror and another
mirror and you will see the birth of humanity and kindness.
You will come to realise the only anchor you need is love of life,
and respect for all living creature on our little blue planet.

Here We Go Again

Here we go again

One of the world biggest army has attacked Gaza, the world
biggest prison, how many killed? Who cares? I’m fed up of
this war now, we have been ringing around trying to book
a table at restaurant, everything is full in the neighbourhood.
The Gaza people have brought this on themselves, agreed
to a democratic election and elected Hamas, Israel wasn’t
standing for that having leaders who think Israel is a crown
of thorns carried by every Arab in the region; and as we know
by now (we have been told it often enough) that plucky little
Israel has the right to defend herself no matter what, they
have had their holocaust someone else can carry the can this
time. And then there is bloody Iraq, luckily not on the front
news anymore, but bombs are going off all the time killing
scores of people, at Christmas I ask you, as we sit down to eat
we get blood and mangled bodies in dusty streets, with our
turkey and two veg. why can’t Sunnis and Shiites live in peace
like us. Then there is Afghanistan those crazy Taliban and opium
smugglers like murdering people, so what we are doing there

Spirit Of America

Spirit of america
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
The bonneville salt flats had seen some strange things
But the strangest thing yet was a jet without wings
Once as a jet it played in the stars
But now on the ground its the king of our cars
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
An airplane an auto now famous worldwide
The spirit of america, the name on the side
The man who would drive her craig breedlove by name
A daring young man played a dangerous game
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
Spirit of america
With a j-47, a jet for his power

Doctor Junk

Dr. junk the dentist man
Fills your teeth with what he can
Airplane wings and corset stays
And when hes done hell let you pay
In paper clips or inner tubes
Or anything thats slightly used
Hes not really crazy
Only nuts ... and bolts
And rusty rings make him do
The strangest things
Dr. junk the dentist has
An office full of colored glass
A garden with a paddle wheel
And funny plants for eye appeal
And though he watches them with care
Ive never seen them growing there
Hes not really crazy
Only nuts ... and bolts
And rusty rings make him do
Eccentric things

But never get to spin it
You made me promises, I dont think you meant it
If theres some sunshine baby

Evening In Paradise

Evening in the village it is about nine o'clock nothing on TV except
men in nice suits and cuff links talking about the economy, they all
are experts yet disagree about everything banging hands on table,
getting red faced and angry, so I switched off. A motorbike is making
its unsteady progress through the village, Joao home from the bar,
dogs don't bark, know the sound it is only when he is trying to get
off and fall they bark a little, angry voices, and then utter stillness.
I stroll through the village only street every window is shuttered not
letting out light it is like they think they have to pay extra if it does.
I walk down to the main road and hope anything would come to pass
enveloped as I'm by tediousness. A car drives past I spend minutes,
wondering where it is going. Back home I switch the TV back on,
a drone attack an important terrorist has been killed, as have eleven
other mostly children, collateral damage, but we fight a global war.
I wished for and found my Paradise on earth and it is bloody boring.

War Games

You’re playing your War Games yet again
Aircraft Carriers, Tanks and Jeeps
Fighting the warfare, and giving pain
Feeling no Karma, you’re in too deep,
You can’t keep starting War Games yet again
A Constitution’s good, not written in stone.
Searching for your Holy Grail
Fighting a War feeling pain
You know it’s going to fail
Peace is the answer, and feeding the poor.
You’ve got power, but you don’t want to let it go, Let it go!
Don't keep on fighting your war games yet again.
The face of the future is asking you How?
You’ll never win any War, so show restrain
You look everywhere, in the back of your mind
Your still playing your war games we must complain
Protecting your finances, while you’ve still got time
Peace is the answer, well it’s better, much better than war
So just remember, you have to, you've got to let us know
When you stop playing your war games forever
