Full thirty foot she towered from waterline to rail.
It cost a watch to steer her, and a week to shorten sail;
But, spite all modern notions, I found her first and best --
The only certain packet for the Islands of the Blest.

Fair held the breeze behind us -- 'twas warm with lovers' prayers.
We'd stolen wills for ballast and a crew of missing heirs.
They shipped as Able Bastards till the Wicked Nurse confessed,
And they worked the old three-decker to the Islands of the Blest.

By ways no gaze could follow, a course unspoiled of Cook,
Per Fancy, fleetest in man, our titled berths we took
With maids of matchless beauty and parentage unguessed,
And a Church of England parson for the Islands of the Blest.

We asked no social questions -- we pumped no hidden shame --

Working Metaphore

Work is like an island in an ocean of time
Landing on this shore felt like paradise
But the island is small and quickly grows boring
I am standing in the water, looking out as I work

Time passes in portions of half an hour
Wave upon wave of life slipping down the tide-line
I am deciding whether to let go and wash away with it
Or hold on and climb the beach again

How many islands are in this ocean?
I gaze out and see a few just waiting for me
Can I swim to them, will they take me?
In the water between them, is there love lurking?

Changes are on the horizon, as a tsunami
Rolling towards this island invisibly, towards me
None of the islands will survive it, I fear
Or maybe only I will be washed away into oblivion

The Island was there surrounded by sea,

Where the family stayed, so much to see;

The birds flying in the sky, and on the water too,

Yes! They were enjoying their holiday, it's true.

The Island stretched for many a mile, they could see,

A Coin Of Two Sides!

Day is hot with the Sun burning all ruthlessly;
Night is calm with the Stars twinkling coolly;

Indonesian islands are affected by Tsunami due to
Earth quakes on the ocean bed of Pacific Ocean!
Pacific Ocean areas are affected by global warming
Whose tail end effects affect Bay of Bengal too…..!

Calmness of one side and calamity of other side are
Nature’s two sides of the same coin of the world…..!

Funeral Dance

In Amerigo, Carnival was as hallowed as Christmas itself, perhaps slightly more
so.
There was a meaning to it. See, Islanders did not put into words, yet which
made it the authentic supreme day in the Kinjian calendar.
Africa was marching down the main street of this little harbor town today.
Africa, in undimmed black vitality, surging up out of centuries of island
displacement, island slavery, island isolation, island ignorance.
Africa, unquenchable in its burning love of life.
Carnival was Africa Day in Amerigo.
