Safe And Sound
(Carly SimonJacob Brackman)
Strange times in Portland, Maine
Lobsters dancing on the dock
Switzerland's been wierd since they unplugged the clocks
Man and a woman living in Brooklyn Heights
Each convinced that the other is in the wrong
Last year the divorce rate trippled in Hong Kong
If through all the madness
We can stick together
We're safe and sound
The world's just insode out and upside down
Flash from Mexico...the tornadoes have all turned gay
Roman whores have quit to seek a better way
Dope has undermined the morale of the Buckingham Palace guards
Motorcycle gangs ride naked down Hollywood Boulevard
If through all the madness
We can stick together
We're safe and sound
The whole world's just turned insode out and upside down
Marahaj wants you to lead a pilgrimage to Tibet

Ninety Miles An Hour (Down A Dead End Street)
I took you home from a party and we kissed in fun
A few stolen kisses and no harm was done
Instead of stopping when we could we went right on
Till suddenly we found that the brakes were gone.
You belong to someone else, and I do too
It's just crazy bein' here with you
As a bad motorcycle with the devil in the seat
Going ninety miles an hour down a dead end street
Ninety miles an hour down a dead end street.
I didn't want to want you, but now I have no choice
It's too late to listen to that warning voice
All I hear is thunder of two hearts beat
Going ninety miles an hour down a dead end street
Ninety miles an hour down a dead end street.
You're not free to belong to me
And you know I could never be your own
Your lips on mine are like a sweet, sweet wine
But we're heading for a wall of stone.
Warning signs are flashing ev'ry where, but we pay no heed
'Stead of slowing down the place, we keep a pickin' up speed

One last time.
One last time daddy hold me close to your heart.
One last time daddy let's play Scrabble so I can win.
Daddy one more time to walk together, talking about the next trip.
Daddy for the very, last time tell me that you love me very much so.
Mommy one last time, doing my make-up for me.
One last time mommy, cook tacos and cake for a birthday.
Just one last time mommy, the laugh that we will never forget.
Mommy just one more time to go to the mall together with your best friend.
One last time sister, playing with dolls in your room that your share with me.
Sister one more time to ride daddy's motorcycle with him.
Sister just one more time to cook with mommy and daddy.
One last time sister to share a room, wear each other clothes.
Brother one more time for the fun, old memories when we never fought.
Brother one more time fun of it chasing the dogs around the yard.
One last time brother to go running through the woods for you.
Brother one more time to play hide and go seek for grandpa.
One last time grandma cooking for the family reunion and grandma for the very last time measure a skirt.
One last time grandma to sew and sew the skirt for me to wear on Sunday.
Grandma one more time to get the laughs all the time.
One more time grandpa to read the Christmas story from the Bible.

Let It Slide
Dreary Memphis city night,
Dark like a Kennedy's veil,
Shaky like them motorcycle lights,
Leading all them angels at hell,
I gave out my very last dime,
Laid out the bartenders all in a line,
We weren't fighting, we just drank 'em out of time,
Down at Printer's Alley,
[Chorus]
So let the poets be poets and the cops just give us a ride,
We ain't worried about your hands of time,
Just let it slide,
And let it slide,
You know Elvis said only two things were certain Hookers and Coupe Devilles,
Messing with that old boy down at the pool hall surely get your young ass killed,
I'm too tired for fighting,
I'd rather wear myself out with a smile,
We'll stay up with some good bar stores,
Beat up time for a while,
[Chorus]

The grocery store
I drove my old blue
Honda CB900F motorbike to town,
took a small backpack along,
as I had to buy some Whiskas cat food,
the ginger coloured Persian likes
the blue marked kind that contains fish.
The small backpack had nothing in it,
was flat on my back,
the store had just opened
and I was in a hurry
to get to the Internet café
before the better computers were taken
by other customers
which would cause me to crawl along
on an old 486 dilapidated model.

Traffic Jam: The Worst Scenario
It is a hot hot day
You have to go
And you are late
You are feeling sick
And you have stomach ache
You forgot to bring your wallet
Also your phone because you're in hurry
You are the one who drives
And the car needs repairing
Because the window can not be opened
And the door always needs a little push
The tank is almost on limit
And you again forgot to fill it
There is only one way
It is a narrowing road
With two side of direction
The road is crowded
And you stuck on it
And you hardly can move
All people become egoist

I AM THE MOST ordinary PERSON THAT YOU MEET on the street
Reading my poems, my essays, my comments, my biography
She thinks
I am a manic
Depressive
one infested
with a bipolar
personality
neurotic
to the
utmost
psychotic
insane crazy lost bewildered out of this world
out of touch in limbo unleashed unsheathed
out of touch out of this world
o my god
o my!
She is wrong

The Ticking Time Bomb
a box was discarded
in a dark empty field
sometime during the night
sometime before
early dawn hours
in a suburb discretely
a box left
innocently
in the middle
of a field
by the hand
of who?
dawn came
people passed by
some noticed

Prince Of Punks
A well known groover, rock 'n' roll user,
Wanted to be a star.
But he failed the blues, and he's back to loser,
Playing folk in a country bar.
Reggae music didn't seem to satisfy his needs.
He couldn't handle modern jazz,
'Cause they play it in difficult keys.
But now he's found a music he can call his own,
Some people call it junk, but he don't care,
He's found a home.
He's the prince of the punks and he's finally made it,
Thinks he looks cool but his act is dated.
He acts working class but it's all bologna,
He's really middle class and he's just a phony.
He acts tough but it's just a front,
He's the prince of the punks.
He's the prince of the punks and he's finally made it,
Thinks he looks cool but his act is dated.
He tried to be gay, but it didn't pay,
So he bought a motorbike instead.

Two weddings and no funeral
The first time I wed
it was in Parrow church
since it was bigger
than the one in Belville.
The church was packed
and I waited
while the golden metallic Mercedes
drove a couple of times
around the church.
My heart skipped a beat
when you entered
dressed in white
and to this day
your beauty still baffles me.
I was at my nerves edge
and so were you,
but we did fine

Your Underwear
I wanna be your t-shirt when it's wet - wanna be the
Shower when you sweat
I gotta to be the tattoo on your skin - ya lemme be your
Bed baby - when you climb in
I wanna be the sheets when you sleep - lemme be the
Secrets that you keep
I gotta be the spoon - ta stir your cream
I wanna to be the one that really makes you scream
I wanna be - your lipstick when ya lick it
I wanna be - your high heels when ya kick it
I wanna be - your sweet love babe - ya when you make it
From your feet up to your hair - more than anything i swear
I wanna be - your underwear
I wanna be the itch that you scratch - wanna be your
Chair when you relax
I got to be your razor when you shave
Wanna be the habit that really makes you crave
I wanna be - your hot tub - when you're dippin'
I wanna be - your bathrobe - when you're drippin'
I wanna be - your cocktail baby - when you're sippin'

When Her Brothers Were Away.
When Monica asked
if she could go with you
and her brothers
bike riding
her mother said
no you're too young
or if she asked
to go with you
and Jim and Pete
to the cinema
to see the latest
Elvis flick
her mother said
definitely not
it's not for young girls
and Monica'd storm indoors

Flashbacks
I
Her older brother brings
violets from the marsh to her
when she is seven years old
with her hair shining like gold
and she pours him some tea
that he gets on the small doll table
that he had made for her
from wood cuttings
and he reads October month’s poem
on her birthday,
that makes her smile
like a small angel.
II
When her mother hits her

Thailand Visit; My Marriage: Homeward Flight
on homeward flight i sit with 'Ghee'.
an East Bay businessman is he. there's a seat between us, to SFO,
for my wife......if not to mama's she did go.
our trip to Thailand is now done.
we had minor problems....but also fun.
my nose bled (twice) and wife's knee did too,
but we saw birds and beasts (wild) not in zoo.
a seeming-endless stream of bats
over us flew like winged-rats.
a huge water lizard had lost its tail;
i hope, at catching fish, it does not fail.
we had dinner one night with Urai and Karl,
but her mom's death our future plans to visit them did snarl.
he suggested we go see go-go clubs our last night,

The Tyre
Just how it came to rest where it rested,
miles out, miles from the last farmhouse even,
was a fair question. Dropped by hurricane
or aeroplane perhaps for some reason,
put down as a cairn or marker, then lost.
Tractor-size, six or seven feet across,
it was sloughed, unconscious, warm to the touch,
its gashed, rhinoceros, sea-lion skin
nursing a gallon of rain in its gut.
Lashed to the planet with grasses and roots,
it had to be cut. Stood up it was drunk
or slugged, wanted nothing more than to slump,
to spiral back to its circle of sleep,
dream another year in its nest of peat.
We bullied it over the moor, drove it,
pushed from the back or turned it from the side,
unspooling a thread in the shape and form
of its tread, in its length, and in its line,
rolled its weight through broken walls, felt the shock
when it met with stones, guided its sleepwalk

Two Miles An Hour
Yeah.. we gon' send this one out
to e'rybody that put mo' into they cars than they do they relationship
Let's ride
[Chorus: repeat 2X]
Two miles an hour, so everybody sees you [repeat 3X]
[Luda] It's get out, put my pedal to the flo' and let's roll!
[Ludacris]
Yesss, 7 cars, 8 cribs and ain't a damn thing changed
I'm still pumpin 10 kickers, still grippin the grain
Still candy in the paint, still ridin them thangs
And most my folks would say I'm happy but I still feel pain
Until I, jump in my ride, that's my only escape
Me and my automobile's got these neighbors screamin, "Gimme a break!"
It's a pity how we turn our city into obstacle courses
Don't be mad cause I can't hold my 500 horses
Lamborghinis and Porsches, Ferraris and Vipers
I'ma wipe the seats witcho' drool then rub the hood with a diaper
Television on the gas tank, the fuel make the ass stank
I MEAN to be rude, my bass tubes are in a glass tank
Go strap your seatbelts on, go put your money up

The dentist thing
I. The evening that I bite right through a molar
The evening that I bite right through a molar
with the nerve lying open,
in a thousand years I do not want over again
and then suddenly I am without an appetite
it feels as if I am loosing my senses,
to put it mildly
while I neatly put down my eating utensils
and the next morning I go without breakfast
but that night that thing
pains and beats
and no clove oil, Syndols or R10’s help
to stop that pain
and it feels as if I can jump up and down
and I am overwhelmed with pain.
