Fear Of Flying Someday
Fear of Flying
It was a clear, cold day the sun was a sad
decoration vanity at its worst.
The sky was like after shave lotion with
a tinge of blue which stung a shaved face
with frosty bitterness.
I saw Amelia Earhart´s aircraft disappear
in the distance, only a doleful echo told me
of a tragedy about to happen…
On a lost atoll a bottle of aftershave balm
glints in the sun, perhaps belonging to her
navigator, as does a diamond earring that
shines pitifully on the clarity of gilded sand.
Look up on a still, pale day and you will see
her little airplane forever disappearing into
a hazy past of remembered dreams.

I wish I could write well enough to write about aircraft. Faulkner did it very well in Pylon but you cannot do something someone else has done though you might have done it if they hadn't.

Johnsons Aeroplane
Four long lines one darker than the rest
Each one has a purpose making borders on the land
Farmers pride you know he works real hard
]from a small aeroplane you can see the fields
Heart shaped hedges
Japanese gardens
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Four long years one leaner than the rest
The animals are fed and the pastures dry
Farmers pride if the weather doesnt lie
]from a small aeroplane you can see the sea
Lots of blue
Very deep blue
A place to work and grow
A place to work and grow
Johnson sees the fields from all the sides
Steel machines and black tar roads
Countryside where the spirit never dies
In his face all the history shows

Point Me At The Sky
Hey, eugene,
This is henry mcclean
And Ive finished my beautiful flying machine
And Im ringing to say
That Im leaving and maybe
Youd like to fly with me
And hide with me, baby
Isnt it strange
How little we change
Isnt it sad were insane
Playing the games that we know and in tears
The games weve been playing for thousands and thousands and ....
Pointing to the cosmic glider
pull this plastic glider higher
Light the fuse and stand right back
He cried this is my last good-bye.
Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly
Point me at the sky and tell it fly
And if you survive till two thousand and five

To A Couple Of Students Who Were Teasing Her
Where are you going, my dear little greenhorns?
Here, I'll teach you how to turn a verse or two
Young drones sucking at withered flowers,
Little goats brushing horns against a fence.

I imagine a future aircraft, which will take off vertically, fly as usual, and land vertically. This flying machine should have no moving parts. This idea came from the huge power of cyclones.

If I had wings
In a bad season
yearn seasonal migration
to habitat
in better condition.
But looking cost of air fare
and rent of the cage there,
dropp idea of passage;
going there, can't dare
Crave, I had the wings!
Not needed aeroplanes
not polluted bird's terrains
noise and air;
Could meet them there;
If, I had the wings!

Happy Heathen: (With limited apologies to G.K.C.)
The heathen's not efficient;
He sits down in the sun
And doesn't care a tuppn'y dump
When the day's work's begun.
He works to eat and eats to live,
All day he'll dance and sing;
And if you mention overtime
He laughs like anything.
But we are most efficient!
And, goodness! Look at us!
Our nights are filled with restless dreams,
Our days with fret and fuss.
And we can have depressions
And modern things like that,
And monoplanes and motor cars
And trousers and a hat.

Before marriage, many couples are very much like people rushing to catch an airplane; once aboard, they turn into passengers. They just sit there.

In Their Hopeless Schools
In the school:
Echoes of bleach- pitifully superficial
Holocaust
Of adolescent fanfare the busses bring here:
Children come here
And they are lost- from class to class:
What brings them? They have no
Will to learn,
But they giddy up through the turnstiles
With youth to burn:
And I watch them matriculate from
Copper state to bronze-
The airplanes don’t even pretend to brush them:
The airplanes leap across the canals
These children don’t even think to leap across:
The greatest angels burn their
Fuselages across the milkweeds and the puss willows:
The pilots are taking their stewardesses into
The bosoms of the mountains,
Populated with wildflowers and honey due:

Naked in the Color Splash
As a Crimson glider sinks to the belly
of subterranean stairwell,
pierced through by tin can rooftops.
It scrapes the walls in a pitiful foray.
By the window,
by the Basement level studio,
by the wooden ships, cardboard airplanes, paper eyes
standing against origami corners,
standing, she holds her nose,
seamless wallpaper languishes her tiny hands,
her moist palms, her tender wrists, her boyish arms.
An eye traces her tiny golden hairs, and she knows.
smiling while her firing squad, christ-like, blink their flirty shutters,
in a ruse native to the naked city.
in a way a lost crucefix rests at her breasts.
Tiny exposures, flashbulbs and meters that run. etc.
Model who lay composed naked in the color splash,
faints from heat,

The will to chase airplanes
Every day the little boy
With the golden sprint in
His dust covered feet chases
The silhouette of the same airplane
With great messianic zeal that it hurts
And his hands are flying as if he is
The seasoned and proud pilot himself
Don't worry little one
You see today your mother
Cries with the shame of watching
You resorting to the half bricks
That you improvise into toy airplanes
First you must learn the hard
Lessons of life in the raw
Before you graduate from the university
Of the heartlessness of chafing under
The ropes of adversity
You must earn your stripes from
Faculty of the hard knocks of suffering
And only then will you soar

The League of Nations
Light on the towns and cities, and peace for evermore!
The Big Five met in the world's light as many had met before,
And the future of man is settled and there shall be no more war.
The lamb shall lie down with the lion, and trust with treachery;
The brave man go with the coward, and the chained mind shackle the free,
And the truthful sit with the liar ever by land and sea.
And there shall be no more passion and no more love nor hate;
No more contempt for the paltry, no more respect for the great;
And the people shall breed like rabbits and mate as animals mate.
For lo! the Big Five have said it, each with a fearsome frown;
Each for his chosen country, State, and city and town;
Each for his lawn and table and the bed where he lies him down.
Cobbler and crank and chandler, magpie and ape disguised;
Each bound to his grocery corner – these are the Five we prized;
Bleating the teaching of others whom they ever despised.

Well, they didn't lack for topics after Hiroshima. Why should 9/11 slow them down? I know it got a lot of press, but it's just a few large buildings and aircraft, it's not like D-Day and the Seige of Berlin.

E. Z. L. A.
Here I am, never thought Id be
Among the drifters and directors, a place for me
Its nothing like I thought it was after all
Feel the ground its always moving
Down a mountain through a valley watch it all collide
Hear the other ocean churning
Helicopters up above
While another canyons burning
Rain could wash the hill away
Easy la, its another beautiful day
La, alright, cold like the desert at night
Cold like the desert at night
Without the seasons will I know how to change
Are we helpless to the wind?
Give me something to blame
For broken promises, smile like the ruthless sun
Did the money cut the city in pieces
Take the water from wherever it flows
Feel the ground, its always moving
Down a mountain through a valley
